I know this is probably not high on your priority list, but in episode 2v2, at around 19:49, a sticker on a pack of sweet buns reads 大人気 and it’s translated as “Adult Flavor” (the reading there would be おとなげ) but I think it means “very popular” (だいにんき).
I notice that Doki’s and CR’s subs are quite different, especially in some parts, is there a reason for this?
Probably because Doki’s translation is original, not based on CR.
I see. Probably a biased question, but which would you recommend and why?
I would personally recommend the Doki release on the basis that it contains a multitude of translator notes that explain necessary gaps in cultural knowledge required to understand the jokes themselves. Some people don’t like translator notes, which is an opinion I respect, but I believe they are necessary to fully understand a series whose humor is as deeply rooted in Japanese culture as Nichijou’s is.
Please seed 1080p <3 Love your work!
Done.
Please, please consider re-doing Nichijou with the official subs from the BD-release earlier this year but using your format. The official subs are really good but there are some rough patches here and there. Like some weird placement of words, formatting error, etc.
Hope I caught you in a good day, thanks.
Eh? No.
