  • It seems that there are only a few reasonable solutions remaining. In a short while I’m going to provide some clues which should help solidify the date for you all. If you have any last minute thoughts, post them soon.

Also, the response to this post has been nothing short of stunning! Hopefully you have all found the ‘Cryptoriddle’ challenging yet nonetheless enjoyable. From my point of view, it has been interesting to observe how different people approached the same problem.

SPOILER ALERT for those who haven’t played Clannad! So, the 4th line could refer to Fuko smelling Ushio “entering” from the illusionary world in the epilogue of the After Story. Fuko even says to her sister: “Let’s go wake her up”. “Star a point from birthdays past beckoned” could mean the age of Ushio; how many birthdays has she had. THe “Starring” is quite unclear however.

  • Sammoth

Or alternatively the line “star a point from birthdays past beckoned” only means the year; the birthdays of Jesus.

  • Juriasu

This is way to complicated for my brain.

  • ultimecea

actually..the catch phrase is the words or the numbers??

  • Stan

MASON What does the numbers mean?

This line just fits so well to this riddle it couldn’t be any better. On a side note, I have too many projects to attempt to crack it.

  • warrof

btw, I hope the release date is NOT June 28. Guild Wars 2 comes out that day and I’ll be busy playing it.

    • Zen'ro

I don’t know where you got that from, because there has been no official release date set for Guild Wars 2 yet, especially not one so close, hell 2 out of 5 races aren’t even ready to be beta tested yet. Not to forget that the official FAQ still says “We expect to ship Guild Wars 2 in 2012. The final release date will be determined by beta-testing feedback.” Sorry for the bad news 🙁

Anyway back to riddle topic, deciphering was pretty easy, but i have no clue on the riddle itself, seen some very plausible solutions here though. And i’d be totally fine with June 28

  • Null_Shock

and now I want to replay the game or at least re-watch the anime.

I have a couple dates in mind. Most being some of the dates already mentioned, but I feel like I am forgetting something.

This is fun, a bit frustrating, but fun. I wonder if it has anything to do with Ushio or not…hrmm

  • Well, I think its about time I begin providing you with some hints. With any luck, the collective brainpower of the Doki Legion will converge on the correct answer within the hour. Every few minutes more information will be posted, if necessary. The speed at which you discover the date is solely on your shoulders.

    The clock is ticking!

    HINTS

    1) The riddle refers to no more than three people, with only one being a girl

    2) Character(s) mentioned are from the Clannad family of Visual Novels

    3) The correct date is between 15 and 50 days from now

    4) The correct date has been mentioned in this post’s comment section

    • FYI, I’ll need guess revisions in order to post more hints! No ‘free lunch’!

    • Zen'ro

Well the only theory involving 3 people with only 1 being a girl would be the theory about Takafumi and Tomoya talking about Tomoyo’s breath, so i’m putting my money on June 28th for sure now

And with money i mean monopoly money.

      • Null_Shock

That answer makes the most sense so far…and a number of people have reached the same conclusion…So I am also putting my money on June 28th. Though I am still not 100% mainly due to the fact that the img from the VN on the VN page is Tomoyo with June 28th as the date…That coincidence just seems a little on the nose.

  • tabaha

    it’s 28 june.
it’s in the time range, and was posted in the pic

  • Kucing

    What “A Coded Message…” means?
Is the “tomoyo-cute-1024×733.jpg” contains secret text?

  • danyo

28 june does seem to be the appropriate date, seeing how it’s the only “guess” that was based of 2 males and a female, it’s further implied by the 25-50 days, wich means it’ll be this year.

In any case, I’m pretty certain that’s the correct answer, wich would be amazing news, since I didn’t expect it to be this soon, I’m already get excited to know I’ll be playing tomoyo after soon <3

  • HINT

    5) The release month is… July.

  • Reznov

    It’s totally 7/27

  • SaitoHajime101

I believe it to be July 15th or 16th only because of how many birthdays has passed for Takafumi, but again I could be mistaken.

  • Null_Shock

The combined intellect of the Doki legion has turned into a brute force attack…

That said I still can’t figure it out…which irritates me I am normally really good at these things…I have to be forgetting something. guess I can read through the comments see if that knocks something loose in my brain.

  • Finny

    i reckon 28th june… Fridays 🙂

  • Finny

    EDIT ^ thats the 29th

  • Angel

July 7th? that’s the other date that I ended up with on my original search… That’s the first day in the game after the opening plays.

  • FINAL HINTS

Here are your final hints to determine the long anticipated patch release date… get ready!

6- The simpler the explanation, the more likely it is to be correct. The most complicated reverse translation scenarios and embedded code theories can be eliminated.

7- The code and riddle are actually important in determining the release date. Pay attention to detail!

8- To learn the date, you must solve the riddle

9- The riddle asks for you to ‘star a birthday’ of a person who happened to wake up from something, has a keen sense of smell, and either is a third person or someone who speaks in third person. I wonder who that sounds like…

10- Really now. The Clannad Man posted this. You should expect a connection between the Clannad kazoku of games!

    • danyo

I stick to my fuko story, she woke up from her coma, she has a keen sense of smell ( iirc, she smells ushio under the tree in after story? ) she speaks in third person and is often a third person like I stated before, and her birthday is 20th of july.

    • Bo

gaaa so close but yet so far for me.

    • Elvin21

I think the deciphers will have to go to AS to know the coded message and the date… Many know of the first key of the coded message, but the second part is a big debate…

  • My guts and brain cells are telling me it’s July 26-28th. Anyways, I’m so fucking excited for this. :3

  • Null_Shock

July 20th is 50 days from now It is also Fuko’s Birthday….but that just seems to easy…..

    balls!…. (>_>)

  • danyo

Well, I’ll see the result tomorrow, it’s 4 am here now, I’ve been waiting all evening for this, but I had a lot of fun doing so though 🙂

Don’t get me wrong, I like it this way, just thought I’d share how much some people are looking forward to this!

ps.: Slighty off topic, does anyone have a bigger version of the tomoyo picture at the top of the post? preferably 1900×1080, I’d appreciate it!

  • JbstormburstADV

Wow… I had this figured out way too easy. It’s definitely July 20th. No exception.
