I don’t usually make requests, since I know it’s almost always pointless, but I’m kind of desperate here, so, would any of you consider doing School Days in bluray? You don’t need to sub them or anything, there are acceptable subs floating around already (such as from AniYoshi’s old TV releases), so it’s just a matter of encoding, timing, and typesetting I think. The blurays came out AGES ago, but there are STILL no groups doing them. There was one guy (literally just one dude), but he’s been inactive since January, and he only released 2 episodes so far.

Alternatively, if that’s too much work, maybe it’s possible to just find decent raw bluray encodes, and mux some other group’s subs into them at least? Could you (or SOMEONE at least. Please heeelp!) at least do that? I don’t know how to do it myself. I’ll even buy and provide the bluray discs if I have to. Please? πŸ™

    • I would sign up for QCing that one πŸ˜€ It’s worth it *-*

    • We don’t take requests.

Was expecting this kind of answer, but I had to try…Sigh…Now what do I do…

I’ve never seen the show personally, but have noticed a small American publisher is releasing the show on DVD in the US soon, depending on who gets it, it may, just may get a release on Blu Ray in the UK, a company like MVM has been doing a few Blu Ray releases in the UK recently(And as you live in Norway that would be an idea situation for you).

That’s the longest of longshots but you never know, it’s unlicensed here in England. Call it Plan Z, when all else has failed, just wait and see what happens with it in Europe lol

    • So that’s that ┐(οΏ£γƒΌοΏ£)β”Œ

    Mahouka where?

The final screen before the ED for this episode had “Aito” when it should have had “Ashisu”.

Seriously, WTF is up with characters getting drunk off of chocolates, juice (typically something carbonated) or other non-intoxicating food or beverage.

If the story needs people to act particularly out of character, completely uninhibited or just off why not just hit them over the head with something. It’d be more probable!

  • SomeDudeOnTheNet

    Or… HERE’s a thought… Give them some actual alcohol.

    • You now those chocolates… They HAVE actual alcohol in them! And since Sena has a week body and is somewhat still a child she can’t take much alcohol. So in this case in my opinion it works perfectly fine.

  • Explain to me how characters can get drunk with juice then!

Generally the “juice” is also something that has some very low alcoholic content, such as amazake. Or they just never explain what it is and call it a “mystery juice” of some sort.

Though it is theoretically physically impossible to get drunk off 1% alcohol content, it’s probably something more of a legal issue. It being illegal to depict minors doing things such as smoking cigarettes or drinking hard alcohol, they have to make some compromises. Such as having high school delinquents eat lollipops instead of smoke cigarettes. And if they want to show what characters are like drunk, they have to replace harder alcoholic beverages with things it is actually legal for a minor to have, such as chocolates and juices with extremely minimal alcoholic content.

Officially, Sena is 19 years old, so she’s technically a minor and cannot drink alcohol. Though I get the feeling that even if her age were set above the legal drinking age, they’d still have used chocolates just to emphasize how childlike she is.

Since when was it completely illegal in Japan to picture minors in manga and anime smoking or drinking alcohol? :-/ The majority of Shonan Junai Gumi’s (prequal to GTO) main characters do that all the time, and they’re like 16-17 years old lol.

      • mogu

They also used to broadcast nudity on TV normally.

I don’t know (and don’t care to look up) the specific dates and laws in question, but regulations have gotten a lot more strict over the past 10-15 years.

  • mogu

Also to be fair I am not entirely certain how much of it is actually legislated and how much is self-imposed by the industry to avoid that kind of thing altogether.
