Almost there, can’t wait for the Batch.

  • eworm

One of the first anime I watched. Probably the reason Taiga is the one and only painfully stereotypical tsunderes I like.

    • Anon

I completely agree. She’s the only tsundere I have ever loved.

      • Tomoki

        All tsunderes are good tsunderes.

        • Ryu Infiniti

Not necessarily true; but if they are not good Tsunderes they are usually amusing enough and I can’t think of any awful ones off the top of my head.

          • Index

I think Nagi Sanzenin is one of good tsundere though. Thumbs up for the studio

          • Ryu Infiniti

Never got around to watching Hayate, yet.

Minami from BakaTest was a great tsundere, I think. She was a pretty amusing character too because of her other issues. I do love Louise, Aria, and Taiga aswell.

I would say a mediocre tsundere would be Kagami Hiiragi. Though her, and Konata were my favorite characters.

          • Pelfmiester

Don’t care for Nagi. She’s near the bottom of th list of all Hayate’s characters. Loise was probably my fave from Zero though. Maybe because most of the girl’s had too large breasts for my taste.

          • Index

I’ll believe Manglobe will do better next time 😉

        • Kyouki

Don’t see how people can like Taiga, she is a bitch and a midget. She’s also abusive, selfish and annoying.

If it wasn’t for the other awesome characters in Toradora I would of dropped it on the spot the moment I saw Taiga.

          • Ryu Infiniti

Meh… I don’t really see her as a bitch or annoying, and I like her for most of what you mentioned. I do like comical abuse though.

            To each their own, right?

          • Index

I don’t think so. Taiga wasn’t too bitchy, unlike Louise. Blame JC Staff

          • Pelfmiester

Don’t dislike Taiga, but don’t like her either. I prefer both Ami and Minori. Ami hotter, but Minori has Yui Horie’s voice…

          • Pelfmiester

            Ami is*

          • Index

Can’s say against it. Ami is indeed the hottest chick in Toradora XD

          • Relgoshan

Meeeh. I think Louise a bit over Taiga, though anime of ZnT screwed most of what substance the novels held. Louise’ violence is comical while Taiga’s is darker and more vengeful (jealous violence against one person vs literally being ready to attack anyone for even small things). The Tora Dora adaptation is truer to form, especially Minorin is better foreshadowed as a ticking time bomb.

But yeah, Ami is probably the best all around. Especially once she starts to come down off the bitch horse and actually empathize with a few other people.

          • Pelfmiester

Even in the beginning the only one I ever saw Ami be a bitch to was Taiga. It helps you look past someone being a bitch when it’s all directed at one person and Taiga probably deserved about half of it.

          • Relgoshan

Well they didn’t really dwell on it but Ami’s supposed to have a twisted personality….very friendly especially to strangers, likes to win over crowds, views herself as better than others and secretly kind of a coward. Kitamura showed Ryuuji that double sided personality, and Ami made the bad choice of picking on a small girl whose only style of personality is getting MAD (MUTUALLY ASSURED DESTRUCTION).

But Ami came down off the bitch horse, mostly due to fighting with Taiga and somewhat due to Ryuuji being so tolerant of her selfish side. It seemed like she learned something about herself from finally confronting that camera stalker too. So in future it looks like she could make more friends and deal more honestly with others. As opposing Taiga still has a clusterfuck of issues and self doubt inside that litte head, and I can’t imagine her ever losing that fuse entirely. A lot less entertaining in a 40yo woman with a couple of kids, man. “Malcolm in the Middle” mom ahoy, yeh? Minorin need PILLS and THERAPY I think, a seriously 2.5D personality.

  • Calintz

Holy sweet Jesus, this makes my day today!

Thanks Doki, can’t wait for the batch.

  • Rokudaime

I’m looking forward to this one, but I’m still wondering which group’s subs you are using for episode 5 and onwards, since gg only did the first 4. There’s a huge difference between AniYoshi’s subs and CoalGuys’ subs for instance. I really wish you’d just use AniYoshi’s subs for the whole thing though…

    • Pelfmiester

I’m curious about this too. Is Doki translating it themselves now? It would explain the delays if they were translating it as a side project.

    • Rokudaime

Will SOMEBODY tell us what subs are being used already? -_-

      • Rawr

Does it matter which are used? I mean, is there a huge difference or anything?

Honestly I couldn’t tell you either way, as I don’t know what subs are used for anything that aren’t Doki original translations and aren’t listed in the release post.

        • Rokudaime

“Does it matter which are used? I mean, is there a huge difference or anything?” Since you’re asking: From my post above, which you apparently didn’t notice: “There’s a huge difference between AniYoshi’s subs and CoalGuys’ subs for instance”
So yes, like I already said, it matters. A lot. CoalGuys suck in virtually everything they do (and their abysmal ratings at AniDB in several of the shows they have done show it. Don’t confuse them with CoalGirls, though they aren’t great either…). AniYoshi’s subs are good. There are others that have decent subs too, but AniYoshi’s are the best imo.

        • Pelfmiester

Is it so wrong for us to be curious? I’m more curious whether they’re doing it themselves now.

        • Index

          Everything >>>>>> lolhadena

          this is the truth

    • The qq subs for 5-11 or whatever are from the same translator as gg, so they’re essentially the same quality. And Coalguys’ subs are perfectly fine too, once you remove the “coal” references and other minor bits of trolling… which Coalgirls already did for their release.

      • Rokudaime

“Coalguys’ subs are perfectly fine too, once you remove the “coal” references and other minor bits of trolling… which Coalgirls already did for their release.”

Just no. They are not fine, and there’s is no such thing as being ok “once you remove blah blah blah”, it’s there and not removed, so it sucks. If there’s any trolling at all in a fansub, it automatically sucks, because it’s not being serious, as a fansub should be.

  • Rokudaime

I’ll just ask again here since it seems nobody among the staff has noticed my posts that I made days ago in the relevant topics, and I’m not lucky enough lately to find Holo or Ixlone in the cbox, and IRC doesn’t seem like it would yield much:

First, will you guys do the Blurays of Bungaku Shoujo Memoire? And second, will you do the Bluray of Kiki’s Delivery Service when it gets here the 5th of December? I know you guys like Ghibli movies as much as I do, and I think Kiki’s Delivery Service is a good one. 😀 Sidenote, anyone here seen From Up on Poppy Hill yet? I liked it.

  • Feannatar

Whoa, you just made my day, well actually an evening 😀

It’s been so long I almost forgot what happened in episode 13, lol. Anyway thanks. Also, like Rokudaime, looking forward you subbing Kiki’s BDs 😉

@Rokudaime: I saw Poppy (doki sub, of course), and unlike loads of people on anidb, I love it. The music is great (even if it isn’t Hisaishi), I love the art (yeah, Ghibli FTW!), I enjoyed the story and atmosphere.

    • Rokudaime

Glad to hear it, but um, Doki hasn’t subbed the movie, so it’s physically impossible for you to have watched it with subs by them. :-/ Personally I went with THORA. Also, I don’t know what you mean by lots of people on AniDB not liking it, it has a rating of 8.14, and out of the 9 user reviews/recommendations that have been posted, 7 are highly positive, one is neutral-positive, and only one is kind of negative.

  • man00ver

    Excellent! Thanks so much….

  • Tomoki

    Hell yeah. Toradora. 😀

  • Elvin21

Nice! Is this a combined BD volume? Thanks for the release! 🙂

  • Random45

If I recall correctly, episode 19 is when this series started to go downhill. The last half dozen episodes of this anime are so bad, which is a real shame, because it got off to such a great start.

  • Ouki

never seen this…but if Doki subbed it, it must be worth watching.

    • Rokudaime

It is a good show, but I would be careful with that “Doki subbed it, so it must be good” way of thinking if I were you. ; ) It’s not a given. Goes for any fansub group really.

    • Rawr

It’s not a bad show, if anything people were like all over this show whilst it was airing, it was like, super popular but like most things, I missed the hype. When I did eventually watch this show, I can see why people like.

  • thealchemistcharles07

    Thank YOU!!!

  • Drayn

Glad to know this is almost done. I’ve been wanting to replace my low-res Coalgirls release. Keep up the good work Doki \o/

  • heretic

Woo, I’ve been waiting for this for so long. Thank you so much! Almost there, yay!

Now, if only more episodes of Lucky Star were also completed, I’d start to think this is a dream.

  • Rawr

Thankyou for this, recently started on the Toradora manga too lol.

  • mikey

ep19, audio gets cut off at the end where ruuji figured he was rejected (21:30). it’s weird because once it’s cut off and when you seek to a different part of the show; there’s also no audio. using vlc player. audio in mpc star plays fine but for some reason the quality in mpc is really f’ed.

  • ambinh

I extracted the audio of ep19. It’s only run to 21:35

  • Calintz

Ep. 19 actually doesn’t have that audio issue (480p version), it worked for me just fine. (Will update with another comment to confirm that both 480p and 720p version are fine once I finish downloading the 720p version.)

Although I will add this: Holo, or whomever works on this show, your Karaoke subtitles are overlapping each other, can you possibly fix this for the batch?

  • EPCF

Doesn’t seem like any1’s posted here for a while so was wondering, do you guys plan to do the last batch or dropped it?

    • Rokudaime

Lol, they haven’t dropped it, it’s just stalled. You may think no new release for 2 months is a long time, but here at Doki, it’s not. I’ve waited for certain releases for between 1 and 1,5 years in some cases. ┐( ̄ー ̄)┌ Some of the staff are kings of stallers. You’ll get used to it (or you won’t, and will seek out a different group). 😛

      • EPCF

thanks Roku 😛 and as for “a different group” the only other group that’s done a full batch is Coalgirls, but many people have had problems with the first few episodes and most opening Karaoke with delays and other oddness, seems Doki is the only other group daring enough to go near Taiga, what were you waiting 1.5 years for btw?

        • Rokudaime

Oh, there are several examples. Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kira for example is a 4 episodes long OVA series, but the first episode was released by Doki on the 15th of August 2011, the second one on the 26th of May 2012, the third on the 21st of June 2012, and the fourth and final one on the 14th of October 2012. The batch, which I was waiting for, was released a week later, on the 21st. That’s 14 months in the making (might have taken longer if I hadn’t kept nagging odinigh to finish it, which he mentions himself in this release post: http://doki.co/2012/10/14/higurashi-no-naku-koro-ni-kira-04/ )

Then there’s the second Valkyria 3 OVA which has still not been released, and which I’ve waited for for over a year (this one is all Assasin_Cross’s fault, I’m sure…).

Seitokai Yakuindomo BD’s have also been in the making for a year, and are still not done.

It gets worse though. Much worse. Shuffle! BD’s were announced on the the 4th of February 2011, but were not done until the 7th of August 2012. That’s 18 months (I remember nagging Dys a lot about this one…to no avail…)!

Lucky Star BD’s actually surpasses Shuffle! though, amazingly enough. They were announced in January 2011, but the first volume was not released until the 18th of July, and the second one on the 22nd of December that year, and there has been no new volume release since then, meaning it’s not only been almost a year since the previous release, but the project is almost 2 years old already! It’s been in the making about as long as the Shuffle BD’s, but since it’s still not done, it’s looking to surpass Shuffle! at this rate, and hit the 2 year counter.

Now, you’re probably thinking at this point that there can’t possibly be any project more stalled than this one, right? WRONG! There is one that is even worse, FAR worse in fact, that I proclaim the KING of all of Doki’s stalled projects! Hold your breath, this one is hard to believe:

Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Yuuutsu (Haruhi-chan, not the regular Haruhi) was announced as a project here at Doki by JECHT, who doesn’t even hang around here anymore (he’s still the leader of SGKK fansubs though, though they aren’t very active anymore), in…wait for it…May 2010! The 3rd of May…2010…That’s 2 and a half years ago! 😮 Now, after that announcement, we heard nothing more of the project until the 14th of February 2011, 9 months later, when Doki decided to go straight to BD’s instead of DVD’s (which was a good choice imo) for the project. Episode 1-6 was released…and that was that…There has been no progress on it ever since (and it’s been another 21 months now since then)…I have to admit I actually gave up on this one and looked elsewhere. I think the project has been forgotten or something. So in fact I would actually say that Zdm321 is an even bigger staller than Assasin_Cross is.

So as you can see, I have had to get used to waiting for a long time for the releases I want. 😉 It’s a good thing I’m an archiver type that always wait for BD batches rather than watch TV releases as they are running, since I’m no hurry to watch the shows. I have a giant backlog as well. But still, Doki can be quite good at stalling sometimes…

          • EPCF

Thanks for the details 😛 that is a pretty long time, i’m fine with waiting for the batch as.. it’s not me that needs them /grin, only the first few openings of my coalgirls toradora batch screw up, but it’s completely watchable, on the subject of stalled projects anyway, do fansubbers get payed? i’ve always wondered if they do in some way or another, i know they don’t get payed by the companies and may rely on donations but that brings the thought to mind that they’re subbing for the fans and not as a job, thus we aren’t really in a position to expect or demand anything, but rather be gratefull for what they do. (don’t missunderstand, that’s just a thought that’s been on my mind for a long time)

          • Rokudaime

I guess the short answer to that would be: No, they don’t get paid. 😉

  • CyrilZhafran

    Quickly finish this thing!! PLEASE!!!

  • MyHeartIsDokiDoki

Please complete this :((, a 1080p blu-ray batch would be a perfect new year present.
