Hello, I would like to apply for this position. I am confident in my Japanese language skills, having watched over 1500 anime series completely in their original Japanese language.
Well, having to be an active translator isn’t part of the description, so you qualify, I guess.

Actually I want to join, but I’m not that fluent in Japanese. I got JLPT N3 around…, I don’t know, five years ago? Since then I never really learn Japanese besides of translating random songs in youtube with help of online dictionary.

online dictionaries are no worse than physical ones.

Online dictionaries are much better for finding kanji you don’t know how to pronounce.
Too many people automatically assume that getting the help of an “online dictionary” or a “google search” means that you used google translate.
Can we drop this subject now? It’s not a big deal, and I did say sorry for being off the mark in my response to him, when I didn’t really need too.

To me sounded like he was saying he never really learnt Japanese, but used an online dictionary to help translate songs from Youtube or something.

Aww, you really should go back to it! I’ve always felt that the hardest part of learning any language is getting started, as it’s so easy to get discouraged to begin with. Once you’ve got the basics of a language down, I find the rest of it comes very easily with steady time and effort. So if you passed N3, it seems a shame to stop, as I’m sure if you continued to study you’d quickly improve! ^^
I would like to apply for this position. I have no professional translation experience and have never taken a JLPT. A single project from me can take as long as four years (and counting). I think it’s evident that I am well-qualified for this job.
Joking aside, you have your hands full with Chihiro anyway though, right? ; ) You guys seem to be struggling these days. Found any new recruits for the various positions yet? I’d apply for QC to help you guys out if I could, but unfortunately I don’t have the time.
You know, you seem like a perfect fit to work in the VN Division full time…
How proficient do I have to be? I took 4 years of high school Japanese and then didn’t really practice for a couple years, now I’m trying to get back into and practice as I will be studying abroad next April.
I would be willing to help if I can, but right now a quite a bit rusty.
