While the battle was a very close one, the combined Doki Staff appreciated the works of these individuals the most. The winner of the challenge ‘The Viral Outbreak’ could have been won by several people, but ultimately I decided to choose the post submitted by ‘Unravel‘. While viewership is likely lower than the others’, his creative approach left me smiling throughout. Nice job!
The winners of ‘The Detective’ challenges are ‘Elliott’ & ‘Shiro’ for being the first to submit links which met the qualifications put forth in said challenges. Who ever knew Google-fu could be so rewarding?

Recruitment for Tomoyo After Beta-Testers has now begun. (Lucky you!) The Beta-Testers will be testing Doki’s complete English patch before its official release on July 20th of this year. Very few spots are available through this offer, so when applying, it is important that you meet the following qualifications:
1) Applicants must have a copy of Tomoyo After ~It’s a wonderful life~ (original limited edition) installed on your computer. A digital copy will not be provided to you.
2) Applicants must be able to complete the entire game within a two week timeframe, make notes throughout for presentation at the end of the testing period, and be prepared to answer questions regarding your review process. Accepted applicants who fail to do so will have their status revoked and will NOT be included in the Translation Team credits.
3) Applicants must have a high level of English competency, preferably, but not limited to, native-speaker status.
4) Accepted applicants will not get paid. Herp-Derp.
5) All applicants must complete a challenge listed below.
A) “The Imagician” – In a format similar to that of Doki’s prior banner contests, create a banner image (1,240px × 250px) with Tomoyo as the focus and either ‘Doki’ or ‘Doki VN Department’ also shown. The submitter of the ‘best’ of these (creative, balanced, smooth, etc.) will be briefly interviewed and then selected as a beta-tester.

B) “The Viral Outbreak” – Not much of a drawer/photo editor but still want a unique way to be selected as a beta-tester? Good at getting people’s attention? Then this challenge is for you! Find a way to successfully get the word out that the complete English patch for Tomoyo After will be released on July 20th of this year. How one accomplishes this is up to them. Participants will be judged on both creativity and an entirely arbitrary estimation as to the size of the user base reached. Submissions which appear to be spam or which cause a negative reaction in the target community will be discarded from consideration.

C) “The Detective” – Not good with images and too timid to advertise the patch release date? So be it; there’s an option for you too. This user must search the expanse of the internet to find a specific Clannad Drama CD, catalog number ‘CLANNAD-0000’, available for sale. The disk can be new or used. Users must link to the page where the item is being sold to be considered, though links to pages where the item is sold out will be ignored. Furthermore, the first person to post a picture of the CD in their possession wins an automatic spot as a beta-tester.

D) “The Detective II” – That was quick! ^^ Same deal as before, but with catalog number KSLC-0009. BOTH DISKS. ‘Challenge D’ will also be the final addition to this list.

Hmmm…to think that Tomoyo After would be dropped by Baka-Tsuki and picked by Doki.
I have major doubts about the quality of translation unless Doki Fansubs has managed to improve in the past year since I’ve last seen their shoddy work.
Let’s hope translations are much better than what I’m anticipating. And without stupid gg-esque localizations which ruins Japanese anime/games.
I’ll have a very strict eye on the QC of this whenever the english patch goes live, you can count on that. >=D Let’s hope it’s done as well as the ONE ~Kagayaku Kisetsu e~ project was.
While I’m not an authority on Japanese, I can assure you that our translators for this project are great, or they’re fantastic liars and this will be worth playing purely to see the story they’ve spun in lieu of translating Tomoyo After.
Hello there narshe_delvar. Tomoyo After has been in Doki’s hands for over a year now. CLANNAD was recently transferred over as well. I’ve been providing users with frequent updates, but I’m guessing you just recently heard the news. Welcome.
I’m sorry you feel the way that you do concerning Doki translations. Whether your perception is due to prior experiences or due to outside efforts to discredit the site’s translators is difficult to determine; regardless, I’m confident you will see that the project was placed in good hands.
Though there is some overlap, you will notice that Doki’s VN Division is separated from the main Doki Staff. (See http://doki.co/staff/) You may also notice the VN Team has several well known members from other fansub/VN groups, including Kuzu, Pandasu, Polarem, Sheeta, and Phlebas. Furthermore, team members such as NeWbY, jakeman95, ryuu_zer0, and BilliumMoto have substantial experience and are invaluable members of the team. I cannot force you to change your opinion of Doki, but I can point out that there is little reason for concern. If you are adamant about finding potential mistakes, then feel free to apply as a QC at any time; as a QC on ONE, I’m sure working as a member of Doki’s VN Team would not pose a problem to you. Technically it is the Limited Edition, which is the original release. Either way, the answer to your question is yes.
About half a year ago, I looked around for tomoyo after but could not find it anywhere on the internet. I later got it from a friend and uploaded it. There was soon a spike in interest for the game around the internet. I dont want to be a bigot, but I feel like that was my doing, and therefore deserve the prize. There is also a good amount of seeders and leechers for a VN for my upload.

I feel that responding to as many people as possible is important to show not only a devotion to the project but a connection to the userbase. It’s already at a point where I feel people will get dissed if I don’t respond to their comments!

Hi erizo. I actually linked to that page in the post, so I’m guessing you missed that. The participant needed to find a place where it was available for sale, and unfortunately, that is just the link through the Key website. Key never sold the item, but rather gave it away as a promotion.

Banner 2 doesn’t specifically have Tomoyo as the focus – but, it has always been the image I most associated with Tomoyo After. Hence I made a Tomoyo-specific version as well in case it is disqualified. It is my favourite though.

No no, it’s very good (to me anyway, but I like all of them, and fall pretty easy for any Clannad material, so I’m not a good judge ^^’), it’s just that that scene is a tearjerker. : )
