“Hello! This is Mimori, the translator for the second half of Ano Hana. I asked Hiroto if I could hijack the last blog post for the series to say a few things, being that it’s the first project I’ve reached the end of with Doki. I ended up in Doki and in the fansubbing scene in general through sheer chance, and had no idea what to expect when I was recruited. I wasn’t familiar with the processes involved in fansubbing, I had no knowledge of modern fansubbing groups, and though I’ve been studying Japanese for a long time, I have very little experience actually translating. To be honest, I was a little bit terrified at the idea of showing my work to so many people, especially when I was stuck on Ano Hana – a show I wasn’t familiar with – halfway through the season. With that in mind, I just wanted to say how much fun I’ve had working on the series. The world of fansubbing is a crazy and stressful one, but it’s also one that’s super-exciting and fun, and I’m glad I stumbled into it.
Since I’ve had special thanks thrown at me several times throughout the course of the series, I wanted to take the time to say thanks to Hiroto, Calyrica, masat, Zdm321, Holo, outlawauron and Nanakoto for the variety jobs they tirelessly performed throughout the course of my work on the series, which were no less important than my own as translator, and without which my work would never have seen the light of day. You’re all wonderful! Thanks also to everyone else from Doki’s staff for being such a lovely bunch and making me feel so welcome in the group from the moment I joined. And most of all, thank you to each and every one of you who downloaded and watched our Ano Hana. I’m glad I got the chance to work on such a sweet series, and I’m really happy if some of you enjoyed my work. I’m still very new to fansubbing, and issues are bound to arise from time to time as a result of that, but I’m learning more and more with every moment. I promise I’ll try my hardest to get better and better from here on out.

It makes it difficult to watch your releases when there are encoding errors such as http://i.imgur.com/BrEzo.jpg Each one is only a frame or two, but it’s a harsh reminder that you’re watching a video.
Last time I saw an encoding error in one of Doki’s releases the issue was a bad de-interlace on some of the transitions; what caused this error though I’m not so sure.
will check on that. It might be a capping problem rather than an encoding one.
It is a combination of FujiTV’s hard telecining (mixing the chroma from 2 different fields on a combed frame at a scene change) and inexperienced and or lazy encoder. This cannot be fixed with tfm().tdecimate() and requires manual fixing of all the scene changes where it occurs. ie. a reasonable amount of work. To give you an example I spend about 2-3hrs fixing up Ano Hana every week by hand.
tl;dr Anything encoded from a FujiTV transport stream will have this problem present unless you fix it by hand.

Kind of sad to see so many series go to 11 eps. I know there have been 10 and 12 ep series instead of 13 for awhile now, but it still sucks, most of them don’t tell as good a story crammed into less episodes. But then again maybe it’s better since we don’t get dumb filler, either.
Anyways this was fun. Thanks for the release as usual.

Your sister sings well. In english. In Japanese, she tries to pronunctiate it like it was english. It’s those who speak French and say “You ma pell” instead of “Je m’appelle”.
But I give credit where credit is due, she sings very well in English, but she has no future as an ending dubber :D!!
