A gremlin got into the system and the first capping setup failed this week. Thankfully, we have a backup capping system for Chibi Devi so the show was saved! That wasn’t why it was delayed this week. Not one to let a holiday get in the way of Chibi, I assembled a team consisting of the finest men and women also in the room when Chibi aired. Armed only with smartphones and a laptop with a broken keyboard that keeps abruptly changing between Icelandic, English UK and Japanese layouts we managed to capture, encode, translate and release Chibi. Man, more Japanese enrichment. The rock-paper-scissors variant Mao plays is a version with two rounds called Acchi muite hoi! (Hey, face that way!): The objective is for the winner of the round of rock-paper-scissors to point either up, down, left or right and the loser wins by looking in any other direction; if the loser looks in the direction the winner pointed they lose the game. The second game Mao plays (lol) is Oshikura Manju. Which is a game where you shove each other, usually back to back. It’s usually non-competative without any real goal but there are competitive variations where you attempt to push an opponent out a circle. Chibi Devi is now going on hiatus for the summer holidays Chibi Devi only airs term time, we knew this was coming. Turns out Pepe has a house, a family and a real name. Makes the guys at the nursery look like dicks for calling him Pepe and making him sleep outside in a kennel. Enchou-sensei needs to step up his game, he gave up on getting in the bath with Itou-sensei well too easily. Maybe he’s just hitting dat poon off screen and likes to keep it PG in front of the kids. Chibi fact: The anime Honoka changes the channel to in this episode is “Pudding in Love!” (Koisuru Purin!) which is also written by Hiromu Shinozuka – the author of Chibi Devi – although it doesn’t yet have an anime adaptation. This is also the anime Kyou rushed off to watch is episode 2, Mao watched in episode 34, and the main character Rina had a cameo appearance in episode 38 as the girl Karin, Mao and Rai asked for directions while they’re lost. I’m no expert but I think they ride a tortoise this week. It has flat feet rather than webbed fins and a large dome shell rather than a small streamlined one. Yet it swims like a turtle.
