Btw, did you consider using Opus for the lossy audio codec? From what I have read it is at least as good as anything else, and often better. (Of course, this does not include FLAC; lossless codecs are another matter).
I tried it a while back and read about it. It’s not worth it at the bitrates we use. You won’t hear a difference, but it will break compatibility with most devices/players.

Why not also use HEVC for 480p
ALso, I think it is better to use 854×480 or 852×480 than 848×40 because it is close to 16:9 ratio
Because there are people like me who can’t afford to upgrade their shit.
I can just about handle 720p Hi10P, though.
People who are downloading the 480p ver probably cant even play HEVC anyway.

What’s everyone using for HEVC playback? I just installed the latest (2014-07-13) version of CCCP and didn’t get any video. I didn’t do a clean install, so that could be it if it’s worked for others.
Looking forward to hearing some feedback, thanks in advance.
K-Lite and Kodi (xbmc) work fine. Uninstall your CCCP, do a reboot, then install K-Lite.

what player do you recommend for HEVC?
MPC-HC (K-Lite) or Kodi (xbmc) if you need a media center.
guess i just need to update my K-Lite.
MPC-HC/MPC-BE + madVR + LAV filters and XySubFilter.

whoa this is impresive using HEVC again, now i can save more space in my HDD, what surprised me is the file size less than 500mb and this is BD!!! unlike that i download from horr*bles*bs, more than 500mb for 1080p series for TV version
These files sizes are really small. I’ve heard of HEVC, but never tested it. If it looks as good as usual releases from you guys… at this size… DAMN.
And just watched. This HEVC version looks great and plays great. Thank you, and keep using it.
