Yama no Susume Second Season – 05

I’m back from Japan for more subbing and delays! And guess what? I actually climbed mountains!

Special thanks to Orillion for taking over my shows for the past few weeks.

Welcome back, and thanks for ep 5.

Huzzah for climbing some mountains btw. 🙂

  • Termascur

I’d pitch a tent for them, if you know what I mean.
I’ve got a mountain they could climb, if you know what I mean.
I’d show them Mt. Fuji erupting, if you know what I mean.
I’d put my penis in them, if you know what I mean.

  • Thank you very much for the Yama no Susume releases! Welcome back, Kuzu =)

OP in Ep03, Ep04, and Ep05 crashes standalone MPC-HC at 00:32. OP in Ep01 and Ep02 works okay.

    • Jocko

Does anyone else have this same problem? I’ve run this op in 3 different computers with no problems at all.

    • Rawr

You’ll have to forgive me as I’m not following this series, but judging from the lack of complaints, and the Doki tracker saying over 1000 people have downloaded each episode, it might be a problem on your end. With such high download figures, if it was a serious problem, more people would be speaking up lol

      • Jocko

This is probably the case, but I’d like to look into it because it might happen to other people.
Also, when making the first draft, I encountered a similar error somewhere (I don’t think it was in that same time though), and I thought I fixed it.
Some people might skip op and just not notice 😛

        • Thank you for following up, Jocko. Please try the steps below to reproduce the issue.

          1. Go to MPC-HC -> View -> Options -> Subtitles -> Default Style, uncheck the “Position subtitles relative to the video frame” option, and click on OK.

          2. Playback the OP in full screen (F11). Verify that MPC-HC crashes around 00:32 ~ 00:33.

One other thing I like about the OP in Ep01 and Ep02 is the Japanese lyrics. It would be great to see them again, even if they are just displayed by the side without any special effect.

Thanks again for working on this series ^_^

          • Jocko

            I couldn’t reproduce your crash.
By the way, the japanese lyrics are still there, and judging by your comment, they’re not showing up on your side, so I’m guessing its the source of the problem.
Just to be sure, this is how it should look:

Anyways, I’ll change the line that seems to be causing a problem at 00:32 for ep 6 release, and we’ll follow up from there if the problem persists.
P.S: try checking if your codecs are up-to-date

Had a few minutes spare, so I tried to replicate your problem but couldn’t, sorry. It plays fine with or without the subtitle option you mentioned turned on or off in full screen. I’m using CCCP too.

          • Thank you for trying, Jocko and Rawr.

By Japanese lyrics, I meant lines such as “目の前の景色全部” at 00:33 ~ 00:36, and not the romaji. Sorry for not having made it clear.

My steps to reproduce the crash may have been oversimplified as they assume standalone installation of MPC-HC (as previously mentioned) with default settings. I will patiently wait for Ep06 and follow up when it’s released.

Thanks again for looking into it, Jocko.

Again, many thanks for covering this anime. For some reason the OFFICIAL place to stream this show aired on episode simulcast, then stopped.

    いいじゃん? 減るもんじゃなし。
    – Isn’t it okay? It’s not like you were losing anything.
    — 減るもん: loss, something being lost.

    02:21, 03:08
    そう問題じゃない! / そな問題じゃない!
    – That’s not the problem!
    — 問題: problem, issue.

Oscar, I’m not sure what you’re pointing out here… cause the lines in the script are fine/correct. The first is an expression which can be TL’d as “It’s not like it’s the end of the world or anything” and the second is a follow up something along the lines of “That’s not the issue/problem/point/etc”.

      • Okay, though “it’s not the end of the world” would have made me think that the characters said something like, 世界の終わりじゃない, which is comparatively more drastic…

    @Oscar:
I could reproduce your issue. It should be mentioned that as long as you don’t skip to ~00:32 the episode will play just fine otherwise mpc will crash (for me).
    My solution/recommendation: install xy-VSFilter.

Somehow the bottom subtitles (for the English translation) differ from your ones. Moreover it would be interesting to see whose set-up fucks up the colours in the video.

  • @Baumkuchen
Thanks for sharing. In my case if I playback the episode from the beginning (00:00), MPC-HC will crash when it reaches 00:32. I personally prefer MPC-HC’s internal subtitle renderer (ISR) to xy-VSFilter, as the two now have similar performance and the former (ISR) offers additional flexibilities.
