Holo said the batch is patchable and said he will make it but then some random guy made a patch with no instructions whatsoever on how to make it work the patch provided by that guy is different from Doki’s patch releases.

The police don’t care about anime though lol. That being said isn’t it a grey area if the anime is unlicensed outside of Japan? I’ve never heard of someone being arrested for fansubbing before.
Yeah it’s a grey area, but licensing companies don’t care about that (eg Funi). It’s not like the fansubber is going to have the resources to counter their DMCA notice, lol.
If you look on google, even FansubDB has certain pages DMCA’ed, even though that site definitely does not contain any infringing material or links.
So really, Funimation can’t really do much beyond being a pain in the butt right? I remember the One Piece fiasco when they tried to sue a whole bunch of people for downloading it as a group but dropped the case when the judge ruled they would have to do it all separately(1000+ people I believe).
I’m not a fan of Funimation personally, just they have a monopoly on the anime market these days which isn’t a good thing as they don’t care much about people outside of America.
Their bubble will burst sometime though. The sell low method they currently use will eventually have to change when costs increase, and thus less sales.
