Sword Art Online (BD) – Vol 4

Man I love this volume. Kirito being badass and Asuna falling for Kirito. Kirito x Asuna best couple! \o/

Blame heyman for all delays in this volume.

Are we gonna get all the blu-rays before next season? I wanna re watch but… I wanna do it Doki-Blu-ray style 😀

    • Rawr

Probably, but at the very least you’ll get the first arc by July when Season 2 airs, which arguably is the only one worth watching anyway.

  • Dread

    They did the secks <3

  • Reki Kawahara

Two years worth of semen made a glopping sound as it flowed endlessly into Asuna.

  • Deva

    wow, it’s a long time ago…

    anyway thank you..

  • Kuu

Doki, will you translate Date a Live II?

  • DokiFan

Is Doki going to post the AnoHana movie BD?

  • Rawr

Thankyou for the Sword Art Offline Episode 🙂

Sucks how they didn’t include these in the UK release, you’d think with how overpriced the Blu Ray was, they would, but nope. Cheap skates.

  • Rokudaime

Call me a romantic, but, imo, there are way too few shows like this one that has some genuine, real romance going on between the main character and (only) one of the heroines (i.e, not the typical harem suggestive stuff where the main character can’t decide, or is just a chicken, and/or where it never develops into anyhting), without it either being of the fanservice kind where the main character is a jerk dicking around with several of the girls (School Days), or where there are several alternate realities/outcomes,with episodes being split up into separate arcs/routes like a VN (Amagami SS, Yosuga no Sora), or where the couples are of the same sex, like in Sakura Trick (admittedly I am a huge yuri fan, and I love the show, but that’s besides the point).

The lovey-dovey scenes between Kirito and Asuna are adorable. I love this kind of stuff in my anime (I’d take it over harem shows any day), and I wish there was more of it, because it seems to me it’s really quite rare… 🙁 The only shows I can think of off the top of my head that I’ve seen, and which had this kind of content, are Kanon, Clannad, Shuffle!, and some of Studio Ghiblie’s movies (though Kanon and Shuffle! are the only ones where the couples in question actually kissed, at least as far as I can remember. Clannad annoyed me in this aspect, because having someone marry, and then skip several years into the future, and STILL never show them kissing even once, is kinda weird).

Anyone know of any other shows like this that you would recommend me to watch? I would be most grateful for any suggestions.

I think that’s just one of the many redeeming qualities of Clannad. they don’t need kissing or whatever else to show that 2 characters truly love each other. I don’t find it strange that it was never shown even after their marriage.

      • Rokudaime

It’s not a redeeming quality, it feels forced and out of place, like they’re trying too hard not to show it (which is probably exactly what they (KyoAni) are doing). And the VN had them kissing anyway.

        • Rawr

I thought with Nagisa and Tomoya it wasn’t really needed to show them kissing, they had that deep connection with each other that really showed they were a couple, and even at the start Tomoya cared about her, he had no reason to go along with what she did at the beginning of the series but did because he wanted too. Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t have minded it, I just appreciated their relationship lol.

    • Rawr

I felt that Yuis introduction just reinforced their relationship, they were like a family. I wouldn’t mind a deus ex machine way of them somehow getting Yui into the real world somehow.

  • Gonna have to agree with Rokudaim here. Even during volume 5 of SAO (coming soon(tm)), they are still being kinda lovey dovey to show their love is still blossoming. And that’s one of the themes in SAO that I really really REALLY like.

Clannad didn’t have many lovey dovey moments between the couple unfortunately. And that is kinda annoying like Rokudaime mentioned.

But I agree, Asuna x Kirito is the only reason why I picked up this BD and spent months fiddling with the encodings.

    • Rawr

Speaking of Kirito, I liked how he would move heaven and earth for Asuna. Not once did he ever think about giving up in the second arc. And he was pretty much in an impossible situation what with the system admin being the one holding her captive. I guess he was lucky the admin never took him seriously until the end.

  • GOOD☆( ゚Д゚)b suggestion!
Although ご愁傷さま二ノ宮くん may also be a good watch… 😉

  • LostLogia4

Chapter 16.5, a badly written sex scene long before SAO is published as LN. Didn’t make it to neither the LN nor the anime, for obvious reasons, but a “screen turns black” scene is good enough an euphemism.

  • LostLogia4

What, nobody among the Doki’s staff is interested? Well, that’s a pretty sad news for me.

    …again, misposted it again, sorry…

  • LostLogia4

Not intentional, but I’ve spammed four times now trying to reply… ugh…

  • ewan

    asuna has gone wild

  • Zero Unfinished

    Asuna and Kirito ……..

  • could you fix your XCDD files, ’cause the 720p releases are uncompleted

  • Nerv987

In episode 09, 21:44 “both two of them.” Shouldn’t it be “both of them.”?

On episode 10, 00:02 “both two of them.” Same as above

So… “Soon™” is approaching a full year since the last release. >;-) I’m still hoping to see the last four SAOFFline specials – nobody ever subbed past #5 of 9 that I’ve been able to find. (And the quality of the non-Doki attempts left a lot to be desired.) Any chance of finishing just the Offlines? I’m sure everyone has seen SAO’s first season by now (it’s even aired on Adult Swim; S2 is airing now), but not the wonderfully funny specials. Thanks for all of your hard work.
