How do you put subs on the videos?
Easy way? Drag and drop it into the video while playing.

The computer won’t let me drop the .ass file into the video while its playing and for some reason the “muxing” that is used in the program that was in the link you showed me doesn’t add the subs. Is there any other option? are there any .srt files of the subs?

Muxing with that is exactly how we add subs to video. You probably didn’t read the guide properly and left the default track set to off so they didn’t show.
If you can’t drag and drop subs into your video I’d suggest using a different player. MPC via KLite or CCCP codec packs for example.
If I may ask, are there no extras or OSTs?
