Off-topic question: Which torrent client Doki recommends (Windows environment)?
I used to like uTorrent but, starting with version 3.0 each new release got more and more “weird”.
Also, which codec pack is prefered ? I used to have cccp but in the latest version (2011-11-11) the guys in charge seemed to be struggling about wich h264 codec to use (the usual one of the new “LAV” one) that got me somewhat suspicious about its reliability.

You can use old µtorrent client that still works fine. For codecs k-lite is more updated now and even includes xy-vsfilter so it’s better to use it than CCCP. The best is to install the codecs yourself but it takes more time.

Even 10-bit 1080p with heavy softsubs that didn’t work before work now.
Aha. Hmm, that sounds pretty nice actually…I can play everything, but 1080p stuff sometimes lag slightly on my TV. Though I suppose that could also be because I’m using a DVI to HDMI cable between my PC and TV, rather than an HDMI to HDMI (the one I have isn’t long enough, and I can’t find one that is). But if it’s not…Then again, I don’t know if I feel like uninstalling CCCP and installing K-lite, when I’ve used CCCP for such a long time with so little problems…
xy-vsfilter won’t make your pc better with the video decoding, if it couldn’t decode just the video before, it won’t help. xy-vsfilter is only useful when the subtitle renderer needs more than one of your cores (because it isn’t multithreaded it can’t use more). Using a DVI to HDMI cable changes nothing, it may make the video card work more but the video card isn’t used for decoding anyway.
No, it can decode just the video just fine. But it sometimes lags a bit on my TV. But then, if it’s not the cable, and not the decoding, or the filter, then what’s causing it? Is it my TV, or am I just overly picky, and it’s just the video itself? Because I can’t imagine it’s my computer’s hardware, as it’s pretty powerful. Specs: Procesor; Intel Core i7 Quad-Core 960 @ 3200 MHz. Memory; 6144MB (3 x 2048 DDR3-SDRAM). Video Card; NVIDIA Geforce GTX 470. I have the latest drivers, and updated the video card driver not too long ago (I have auto-updates).
Could be the TV. But if it lags on PC video it should lag on Vidjagaems also, like the 360 over HDMi. Could be your video drivers are slightly bugged but I doubt it. I’ve heard of laggy flat panels being a problem but usually for plain video the picture and sound should be synced along a single cable. Otherwise the TV would even desync on DVDs or Blurays.
Hmm….Well, I’m having absolutely no lagging what so ever when I’m playing video games or watching Bluray movies on my PS3. :-/

The newer versions of utorrent might have extra crap added on, but even with the crap, it’s better than the alternatives. I still use utorrent on windows.
Same here. It took some getting used too with all the new stuff, but it’s still the best. I agree with anonymous though, it’s like the utorrent folk add more weird stuff with each release now.

They are going to remove the useless apps platform soon. I personally don’t mind the size, but useless stuff such as “built in video converter”, “WebUI” or apps MUST be removed. Seriously, nobody uses them (atleast not me).
Nevertheless, I totally agree with you, Holo. uTorrent still remains the best torrent client.
WebUI still quite useful, I think, for remote access.
I don’t like the new crap in utorrent, so I just reverted back to the old version and refuse to update. As long as it continues to work I don’t need to update it.
I stopped updating uTorrent a while ago, mostly use it tho. Sometimes I use Opera because the inbuilt torrent module hilariously attempts to download everything *sequentially* instead of spreading the data out more. 5min after starting the Qwaser batch I was able to start watching…
I have CCCP/MPC-HC and VLC, typically I just use VLC because it works well enough for me. Especially on my former netbook VLC could do 720p with softsubs and MPC-HC just…died half the time.
You’re just like me. I use CCCP+MPC-HC and VLC as well, with VLC being what I normally use, and MPC whenever VLC doesn’t work properly. ; ) The only reason I’m not just using MPC for everything though is because I can’t crank up the sound volume with it like I can with VLC, and I have a headset that has no volume adjuster, so I need that, or things will often have too low a volume for my taste.
Oh I getcha there. What VLC does well, it does almost irreplaceably well. That just makes the rare (painful) bug or regression even more galling somehow. MPC-HC keeps pissing me off with little things but has fewer full-stop issues, so I keep it around for when VLC barfs on a strangely coded file.

Opinion, good sir. The cutest from IMO are Miyabi, Kotori-sensei (yes, the teacher beats the other girls IMO) Houshou, Rinka, Tendou, Konoe, and Mei last. Ikusu doesn’t rank.
