A lot of anime have setups like “I live alone because my parents were killed by , so I have to respect this show for actually showing an event like that.

So they are dead after all. I only read something about their plane was missing.
This changes the Atmosphere completely.
People tend to die when their plane goes missing.
That’s why I always wear a parachute. You can never be sure when the plane is going to disapear out from under you.
Joking, or do you really always a parachute when boarding a plane? How do you convince the flight staff to let you do so? ; )

As for the ep, the the girls being able to recover from mourning so soon after the news of their parents passing makes me more concerned. I know it’s just anime, but it feels unrealistic that they could bounce back so quickly.
Shock, for one, and the seemingly endless ability of human beings to cope. As you can see, the older ones are also holding back their feelings.
I don’t know about people’s seemingly endless ability to cope…depends heavily on the person I think…just think about all the people comitting suicide for much less things. I too find their bouncing back to be a bit too quick..
It isn’t like the scene at the end of ep 2 was on the next day after the accident. It could have been a month for all we know.
Children have a high adapatability, yet that does not mean that ten or twenty years on the future the memories will not come to haunt them.
I find it odder that Yuuta seems completely unaffected by the loss of the older sister who raised him. Sure, maybe he’s acting strong for the sake of the girls, but it’s not like the anime’s actually shown that.
Well considering the anime is called, Listem to me girls I am your Father, or something like that it was pretty obvious something was going to happen for the girls to end up in his care.
I would not be at all surprised if by the end of the series (the Light Novel not the current anime series) if they turn up rescued after being found on a deserted island.
Their plane went down somewhere around Alaska IIRC, so I rather doubt that it would a “deserted island” setup, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if they were rescued by some friendly Eskimoes and show back up towards the end of the series.. Would be good drama for the kids to have to deal w/ their parents showing back up after accepting the lead as a parent.
But this is anime, nothing is impossible. XD
I read the outline of the show on ann to decide if I should watch it, so I had a feeling they would die, but I figured they wouldnt actually make the parents characters. More like the brother gets a phone call one day that his sister died in a plane crash and he is now the legal guardian of the kids…or something along those lines. So I was still pretty shocked when it happened.
There are three different versions of Manga I last check. Minor differences like the 6 mat square vs 10 mat square apartment, the girls cleaning and not cleaning, the first dinner/meals, plane lost in Africa/Alaska etc.
Can’t write too much without spoilers…
Must say, if they’re willing to do something like that, I have high hopes for this show… seems pretty interesting.

He’s their uncle Pawprint…it’d be seriously morally wrong and irresponsible of him to go down that route with the girls, and make him a terrible new father. Brother-sister relationships like in Yosuga no Sora is one thing, but this is a another matter entirely.
He’s only related to the little one….
But ultimately, no one said a word about Yuuta; you just threw him in there. Kinda tells me where your mind is….

Dead parents an missing parents makes a big difference in the atmosphere of the whole story.
– Dead means, deal with it and live on, or not.
– Missing means, there is still hope to return to the good old days.
– Dead at first and then surprisingly returning is something else.
I havent seen any coffins or cinerary urns, so their bodies havent been found, right? This means, you have the last two points remaining.
Hint hint: Try RapidShare, instead of switching only to torrents. Not everyone likes having to only DL through torrents.
