Nope, blame all the pro vs con arguing. Doki decided to use it for their best release for now.
1080p is the best release? What that makes 720p? Not-so-best release cause all people standard are widescreen tv?
Best meaning BD 1080p yes (and 720p in some rare cases). TV is 8bit since it’s usually the first version and gets replaced with BD later.
1080, 720 and 480 are same aspect ratio… so screen width doesn’t matter in terms of what’s shown on screen, of course you would need a 24inch at least to get the best out of 1080.
Also people seem to always forget audio. TV release is lower bit rate audio, the BDs come with better quality audio for 480 and 720 and lossless flac for 1080.
