UN-GO - 01

It’s been a while since I’ve released anything! Hope you guys are all doing well. Basically my Masters at university is keeping me very busy.

Enjoy Doki’s fifth noitaminA show! Next week should be faster. This is intended to be a Thursday night release.

Edit: Fixed mistakes I made in the v2… lesson here is don’t rush to release before work! Added patches to update all versions.

480p Patch | 720p Patch

Links go to persona episode 2.

  • jcons408

    They’re correct now.

  • omariii

thnx!!! and good luck with your studies, hope the guilty crown episodes gets posted soon ^_^

  • Couple mistakes in the OP kanji/ro-maji that we’ll get hammered out next time, so those are accounted for.

Things will be much smoother next week, so make sure to stick with us! 🙂

  • Daniel

how come you cant do Hi10 720p then a regular 720p

    • Ixlone

We can. We choose not to.

      • Daniel

Does it take more time to upload Hi10p???????

        • Ixlone

          Not really.

It does however mean muxing an extra release, uploading it, torrenting it, seeding it, adding it to FS, adding it to post, etc.

And to be fair, TV encodes are crap. If you want a quality release, wait for the BD version.

          • Brakenjan

Sure they’re crap, but using is not like upscaling or anything. The filesize will probably just be smaller, which is great. Then just release 10bit only. Complaining people will soon realise that all they can do is sort it out then everyone is happy again.

Anyway, I’m still fine with the old stuff as long as someone who knows how to encode did it, so whatever

          • Daniel

I love how you pretend that one can just “sort out” hardware support for an esoteric h264 profile.

Its only a 10-20% improvement(assuming a competent encoder), barely worth splitting the swarm for.

          • Leon-Gun

Ignoring that, they’re basically just saving Hi10P for their BD releases which is what you’ll likely keep anyway.

    • uru

Not everybody can watch Hi10 yet.
Some people don’t have the computing power, others don’t have codecs because there are none yet (mac ppl for example).
      8bit is cool.

  • Alex

Awesome! Thanks for the new release

  • ZeroYuki

When you get your P.H.D, I will call you Dr. Holo.

    • Rokudaime

He’s taking a P.H.D after his Master as well!? o_o Boy Holo, you sure work hard! 😀

      • Brakenjan

I’d have more respect if he studied true engineering: Mechanical Engineering.

        • Rokudaime

Dude, are you deliberately TRYING to bring the mood down with your posts? -_- 3 posts, and all 3 of them are negative. Quit it.

        • odinigh

lul; he will study whatsoever he wants.
if he needs someone that knows mechanical engineering, there are people he knows that will gladly help him for no cost.

But then again, when you speak of “mechanical engineering” you’re not being very specific. That’s a large generalization of a broad field.

  • noodle

thanks! hope school is going well for you. hope you can keep up the balancing act and squeeze out a few shows here and there..

  • Elvin21

Thanks for the release! Good luck on your post graduate studies Holo! BTW,is it a 2-year thing, the Masters?

  • Ingrid00

I wasn’t sure if I want to watch this series before, but since Doki is subbing it then it must be something worth to watch after all.

Thanks & waiting for Guilty Crown as well.

  • spincast

    Thanks for the release!

  • Fujishidou

    Hi, guys 😀

I very enjoy your rel, and i want to use your translation to make a vietnamese vers.

Would u mind giving me your permission?

Thanks, guys. Have a nice day.

  • DeckuZora

    >x< Not being nitpicky – my Japanese is pretty bad and I loved the styled subs and signs, but do you guys need an Editor or QC? Cos your grammar and your spelling was noticeably bad this release D:

On that note – I stopped fansubbing 5 years ago… And IRC is just more reason for me to waste my battery life. I wouldn't hate helping out if you have no other option (rather not) but I know if I say "You need to watch your releases for fluid transitioning from Altaic to English language structure." I'll get a 'Don't talk so big when you can't do it yourself!' comment. I can almost taste it e.e

Not trying to be rude either – just fansubbing bashing is now apparently srsfkn.biz and some reviewers are incredibly nasty about this sorta thing (and since you're translating for English audiences – I kinda see it.)

    • Zdm321

Any errors posted in the comments section will be taken into consideration. What we really don’t like is people saying that there are errors, but don’t bother pointing them out. 😛

    • Are you aware of British English spelling conventions, because that’s the only way I could foresee mistakes on the scale you’re describing them.

Also, why offer to help if you’d “rather not unless it’s necessary”?

    • Bucketlist

It wasn’t just British vs. American English spelling conventions. There were quite a few grammar mistakes or missing words in lines throughout the episode. I found this episode much harder to follow than most of Doki’s other releases.

  • Brakenjan

I’m pretty sure holo would not take any offence. It’s a common joke to put down engineering disciplines other than what you are studying, in my case Mech.
I didn’t think they were all negative. My first post was just following a discussion and pretty neutrally (go read it as such and see what I mean), after that I just replied in a similar tone to what others have.

But if you consider them so, I apologise.
    On a more positive note:
This UN-GO seems pretty cool, don’t you think?

  • Kay

    720p Vers.

    @04:18: “I’m President Kaishou’s-”

Should this not be: “This is President Kaishou’s-“?

  • nINJAkECIL

I thought this show were aired @ 576p?

  • mascthemoney

complaining about 10-bit is SOOOO 3 weeks ago…
and i think it was aired in 576p, they just blew it up to 720p. unless it aired in 720p w/o me realizing.
some people like 720p better, and if those “some people” happen to be the subbers supplying us w/ a free service, i’d take it happily.

  • Zdm321

Like almost all shows, it aired at 1440x1080i. While Bones does tend to animate stuff a 960×540 (less than 576p), the show still looks good at 720p. (Compare UN-GO’s video quality to something that truly is an upscale, like Tamayura, and you’ll see what I mean.)
There’s always the 480p release if 720p bothers you that much…

  • Lily

Thanks for the v2. Though there still seems to be a few things off. Like why is the word maid there at 2:02. And the TL note at 3:02 is large and mixed in with the dialogue and text, so dialogue line is missing. There’s also a line missing at 5:05, that wasn’t missing in the v1.

    • That’s quite alarming. Rest assured, none of it was intended. Looks like it crept in when the script was merged with the sign typesetting, since I can confirm that all dialogue and notes were working properly beforehand. We’ll get someone to switch them out as soon as possible.

  • Arjen

Wasn’t there a preview for the next episode? Crunchyroll had one.

  • nice show! I usually prefer to praise on forum or other sites rather than here, since it won’t be useful boasting here, but I really ilke your subbing. I don’t think several minor mistakes in grammar would drop the quality, especially if the meaning stays the same. But I agree with lily. No matter how flexible my English can be, I still cant understand why Rie must be labeled as maid?
Overall. I stil love ur work, and hopefully u can using v2 less in the future. I prefer waiting a bit for a masterpiece rather than watch on time, but understand nothing

    • Flexible English? She works as a maid. I found this superior to “domestic servant”. Housekeeper has its own flavor, but I think there is as much wiggle room in perception as there is in definition. May go with housekeeper to differentiate from her maid-clothing-clad compatriot, but here goes that magical v2, makin’ it possible.
