As for the Shana S1 and S2 BDs… we’ve decided to cancel them for now due to the horrible detail-destroying upscaling that was used in the mastering process.
Will complete season 3 as a BD project.

We’re not doing Fate/Zero
UTW is doing Fate/Zero and they have nice subs with pretty fast releases. Unless you’re really picky about subgroups, you shouldn’t have a problem with them.
UTW just released episode 2, so you can check it out if you want. PS: I am not trying to get people attention on only UTW, for I myself support many sub groups, and currently UTW is using 10-bits for Fate/Zero.

Er, no. The (Final) is basically part of the title of this season.
While I can understand the reasoning behind the BD cancellation, aren’t the best version of S1 atm rather bad TV rips though? S2 is fine as is at least.
DVDs are the best option for S1. They might be SD, but at least they have all of the details missing from the BDs.
Ah, I wasn’t aware there were DVDs. If they use Eclipse’s subs, I’ll go look for them; thanks for answering.

The DVDs came out 5 years ago in America, you can find the Exiled Destiny and Eclipse release on Bakabt if you need a place to download.

Nope, 8bit.
Doki marks their releases quite clearly. This is h.264 HiP(8bit)which they simply mark as h.264. 10bit will always say Hi10P on the file right next to AAC/FLAC.
Just as a side-note I’m quite glad Doki is clear with their labeling. Other groups right now don’t bother labeling their releases as Hi10P.

aww wanted to rewatch the bd’s to refresh my memory been a year since i watched the 2 seasons. well good thing i have the dvd release of eclipse subs archived 🙂
Anyway thankyou for this episode, watched it streamed the day before last but nice to have it in better quality anyway, not really a Shana fan but after watching the first and second seasons its nice to finish a story off in all 😛

As there is no Blu Ray release outside of Japan, and said Blu Rays are like $360+ Dollars in Japan, you’re better off just saving your money and downloading the DVD episodes.
Bakabt have Shana Season 1 back on their torrent area as Funimation dropped the license, I think as far as Season 1 goes Shana is dead in America. Season 2 onwards is another story altogether though lol
Ahhhh I see. Well I must have seen just the DVDs in my local anime outlet. The artbox design is really beautiful… but I’m a nut for precision in my subtitles. I usually am a little more lenient with retail scripts. I have Eclipse’s subs of S1 and S2. Although my S1 quality seems to be majorly lacking… I think I may just have to go with retail.

The BD’s are terrible quality, do not waste your money on them.
You’d think JC Staff would make more of an effort considering they’re charging extortionate prices for the boxsets. It shows a complete lack of respect for the fans to charge like $360 per boxset and do absolutely nothing to make it look good.

Yes. Because groups only sub what people want them to sub, and not what they want to sub themselves.
They do it because they want to and because it’s fun. None of the members here care if SS-Eclipse is doing it as well, and none at SS-Eclipse care that Doki’s doing it.
Not to mention the last two times Eclipse revived to finish to do a project they left said projects incomplete.

File size is quite big… Try reduce the file size.. Normally I downloaded the HD version the size is just about 200MB-300MB.. But this, over 600MB??
Blame the action scene in the beginning and the OP sequence. The first 5 minutes of the video alone takes up 210MB (about 1/3rd of the file size).
So, the next episode size will be the same?? According to myanimelist this show will have 24 episode total.. So if the size will remain the same for the whole episode it will end up 14GB file size total..
I doubt every episode is going to have such bitrate-intensive action scenes.
