Nice, based on the sizes of this volume, the whole series will be almost 5GB less. Pretty amazing that it looks better while being smaller.

and that previous version don’t have some of the signs typeset. I wonder if this has been added to the new version

I am not aware that there were important signs which were not typeset. You should give me specific examples so I can check.
Well actually they’re not really important. Like in episode 1 when Nayuki take Yuuichi for a walk around the town. There were some signs that weren’t typeset. Well it’s true though, they’re not that important.
That’s good then, because they would be awkward to typeset. As long as all the relevant signs are done, then that’s ok.

Fuck it, I am NOT donwloading Kanon again. What is this… 5th time a better version then mine came out. Screw it, I’m sticking to the 8bit on principle.

3rd: Bluray rip
4th: Better bluray rip.

Wouldn’t the 5th point be Ultra HD? BBC are testing it in England for the Olympics so I’m guessing that will be the next thing in a dozen years time(4320p)

Awesome Job on this release. Kudos for your hard work! Are we to assume that Doki does not intend to take down the 8-bit 1080p version of Kanon, but have this 10-bit version supplement it?
The 8-bit version will become obselete. If we ever run out of space on our servers, the obselete files will be the first to go (for XDCC and re-seeding). It will still be available on Fileserve forever though.

うぐう～～ Mixed feelings. All your 8bit Key releases look phenomenal — don’t really see any need (or perceptible room) to improve on them. With HDD prices as low as they are, I don’t see the filesize as a worthwhile concern either. I just don’t know if this huge Hi10P re-encode project is worth the effort and time, seeing how many unfinished BD projects you’ve already got on your hands…
It’s also somewhat irksome that these “definitive” Key BD encodes I’ve been seeding this whole time are to become obsolete.
But you’re the experienced encoder — I guess you know best if Hi10P is really worth the hype. At any rate I won’t be deleting my 8bit releases anytime soon — I’ll be archiving both.

Actually smaller files help with bandwidth. Many of us have to deal with isp caps. If I can download smaller files and still have HD quality, I’ll do it.
As Septe says. This release shoves off almost 200 MB in some cases. I’d say that’s a mighty fine thing. And for everyone who had yet to get Kanon, this is as good an opportunity as any.

Either way… Totally unrelated, but it would be a dream come true if DOKI could do CCS in 10-bit h264. That coalgirl’s version is disgustingly bloated and the styling was gross.
I actually have the CCS BDMVs so that is not impossible. Ask again once I finish the Hi10P Key releases
