Holo told me to hijack the blog post again. We’re getting toward the end already! The season has absolutely flown by, and it’s kind of frightening to think I’m already nearing the end of my second season with Doki. Thank you for continuing to watch my translations. I feel very honoured to be a part of such a lovely group, and I’m happy to be allowed the chance to actually do something productive with my Japanese for a change!
This show makes me want to go and give my parents a big hug every time I work on it, and as soon as I finished translating tonight, I charged away from the laptop to find my mum and tell her how much I loved her. ^_^ I hope you’re all enjoying it as much as I am! P.S: If you live in Europe, have a Wii, and like Japanese RPGs, buy and play Xenoblade Chronicles. I played it last year in Japanese, and it’s like the best game ever. And it just got released in English! You’ll like it. I promise. I’m not just being paid by Mario to endorse the game. I know what you mean! (^.^) I simply love how this show is sentimental and sweet at the same time without the characters, emotions or atmosphere being overly sad, depressing and bleak… which is one of the reasons why I felt Hanasaku to be pretty off putting… (Though I know I’m in the minority on that one)
Don’t think you’re quite alone – I’ve not managed to watch past the first ep of Hanasaku yet for that reason. Lovin’ Usgai though <3

In Hanasaku Iroha, I didn’t make it past the old lady being such a bitch. (First ep I think) Too many people have blood relatives like that to make it watchable even as an intellectual exercise. Much less some semblance of enjoyment. UHG!
And off a (hopefully misunderstood) spoiler, I’m hoping Usagi doesn’t go the route of Koi Kaze, which was kinda bleak and depressing.
Hanasaku Iroha has actually degraded (imo) into a generic, happy-go-lucky SoL. Personally I miss that depressing and bleak atmosphere it had.

Is this really only an 11 episode series? I just don’t see how they’re going to fit all that the manga went over in that short of a time frame. I understand that there will be cuts from the manga version, but it seems like they’ll be pretty extreme if they want to finish it up that soon.
Let us all be optimistic and hope noitaminA will pull a Honey and Clover or Nodame Cantabile on it! This anime is too amazing to not have a sequel of its own, when it already have such a wonderful story line to work on!

I’m not too sure about Xenoblade, I was in Gamestation today looking at it thinking perhaps I should wait till its half price around Christmas like most games are in England lol
An alternative game for Americans(As Xenoblade has no release date there) is Xenosaga, I adore this series on the PS2. And its done by the same people!
Anyway I’m playing Solatorobo(On the DS) great game, probably the best DS game out this year, done by Cyberconnect 2 who do the .hack games/Naruto PS3 ones.

I love both Xenosaga and Xenogears too. ^_^ Xenoblade is very different, and I’m not sure I’d recommend one as an alternative to the other, but it’s probably even better in its own way~! Definitely give it a look, even if it means waiting for a price drop.
I haven’t played Solatorobo yet, but I’m very fond of its spiritual prequel Tail Concerto on the original Playstation. ^^ With regards to DS games that were released this year in English, have you played Radiant Historia? Really, really good! 😀 I highly recommend it if you haven’t. I’m not sure if it made it to Europe in the end, but the DS is region free~!

blaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! wow really? that just sucks, i don’t think they can pull off the entire manga story line with just 11 episodes.. at this pace they probably would go 2 more seasons. probably cause the rating for this anime is just so so high. ^_^ whattya think?

I have read the Manga and loved it. It’s one of those that will tear the the heart strings. So far the Anime is doing the same. If you love the Anime read the Manga.
Hmmm someone told me in AniDB that one manga chapter is equal to one episode in the anime…. if the first 11 episode season 1 covers the entire half of the manga story line then wow they must be skipping a lot of parts. cause i was told there were over 50 chapters of the manga T_T
