One of my ambitions is to expand from fansubbing Anime, and make a move into the world of Visual Novels. And after recent developments, this is no longer a dream, but a possibility.
The first project we will be working on is Tomoyo After. Doki has many translators, but all are involved in translating anime.
I am seeking one (or more) translator(s) dedicated specifically to translating Tomoyo After. You will be provided with the Japanese text to translate from. You can email me if you are interested, or go on our IRC channel and find me or Cruxis (Supreme Receptionist of the Doki VN Department).
Cruxis edit: I am also looking for a person who completed this Visual Novel and can provide me some necessary resources. Find me in #doki.
Later I will be recruiting a number of “testers” to play the patched game, for debugging purposes.
There will be no “public” release until the entire project is complete.
Edit: A small update about how we will deal with the release, which shouldn’t be too far away. The only thing we will release officially, ie, via this blog, is the patch itself. We will NOT be releasing the actual game (iso or otherwise), for obvious reasons. You will have to find a copy of the game yourself. If you idle on #doki, I am sure someone will be able to help you.

They’re still working on it, I can’t remember that the edit Cruxis wrote in the main page. So I’m still being hopeful 🙂

In my opinion if Doki can’t finish this VN, at least they could give the project to TLWiki.
The Little Busters! complete patch was finished in the 18th of this month and the game was released in 2007, Tomoyo After was released in 2005 and it still isn’t finished (both projetcs started in 2008).
If I knew japanese I would gladly translate the game since I love VNs but I don’t and It would be nice if at least Doki would make a patch with everything they translated up until now so we could play or give us some insight on waht is happening.
I don’t want to start arguing with anyone but it’s the truth.
We didn’t start TA till 2011. If LB took four years, we still have over three years to keep to same timescale.
As for a patch with everything TL’d up till now… How about no. Why on Earth should we waste our time making a half-assed partial patch so whiny ingrates such as yourself can then ask for the next partial patch, and the next. There’s some “truth” for you.
Here’s some insight for you: when it’s done, it will be released.
+ There is already a partial patch that covers a whole load of the story and the true ending, it’s just not really good English but it exists, I worked on it too so I don’t see why they wouldn’t use that… all doki is covering is bad endings and the false ending :X
I may or may not have acquired the game through other means. In short, i cannot use the partial patch because the download i used is of a shady origin… can someone send me the seen.txt file? or tell me how i can apply the partial patch for the time being? it’s driving me to mental institutions not being able to figure this out 🙁
Heres something for everyone who wants to play it right now… L2R Japanese the quickest and easiest solution! U waited 4 years for a partial patch u can wait another 3 years to learn the damn language

Ixlone sorry if I was being rude to you or anyone doing this, I said that the project started in 2008 because it was when baka tsuki announced that they would translate the game, and they gave what they had done to you guys (I think).
I don’t think people would be always asking for a patch if you released for example a 50% partial patch all of a sudden because we would at least know how much did you do and be more supportive (more donations and other stuff) and we could also tell you of any errors while we played.
I don’t know if I’m speaking for everyone but I don’t mind waiting, it’s just that being in the dark is a little frustrating and without even the slightest bit of info, people start losing hope.
You don’t need to call people whiny, or other things, I was just expressing my thoughts as any person would do who loves or likes something.
I didn’t really wanted to sound like an ass but its true… and like many other ppl im to lazy to learn I only know a little, so I try not to beg. If i beg itll make the translators think of quiting the project when they took their time learning. I really don’t want anyone to ruin my dream game by annoying the translators or I would never get to play it in English. Plz everyone don’t ruin my and any other ppls chances by annoying the translator… well im done with my rambling
the things I like TA :
1. Based on alternative arc of my fave anime.
2. Its a family theme (Tomoya wants to protect Tomoyo etc.)
3. Who else, because of Tomoyo!!!
4. It makes me feel the sense of responsibility if i were to enter a relationship. Taking care of the expenses n stuff.
5. Is it just me or unlike some other VN, this TA even tho has H-scene, its instead focus on the sweet lovable experience of having a family..?
While at it, what’s your opinion on this VN – TA?
Don’t have enough time to learn another language, i already speak dutch, english and mediocre french so no thanks.
If only the’re existed some technology to insta-learn other languages…. :p
