So with Air complete, here is my next Blu-Ray project.
This is one of my favourite comedies ever. No group has completed the Blu-Ray of this show, so I have picked it up. This show will be released between now and November. I intend to complete this before Haruhi Blu-Rays come out. You can guess what my next Blu-Ray project will be XD.
There will be no 1080p because this was a terrible upscale from 480p. Original translation was done by [gg].

Wiki and AniDB say Seto Sun (the kanji is obviously read as San…) Lunar=moon and Sun…
I’m not quite sure (’cause i deleted the gg/m33w episodes) but in some episodes (or in the ovas) you see the names of the characters and it’s sun and lunar.

Sun/san is the same anyway. The important thing is that you do all the episodes (in a reasonable amount of time ๐ )
Cool. I recently started editing and retiming the your-mom script to zero-raws encode of episode 25 and 26. I was almost finished with 25 when I saw this. Guess I won’t do it anymore.
Now I have lost all motivation to ever join a fansub group.
Groups usually have higher standards than Your-Mom. Don’t lose faith…

If you can’t handle a 450 meg releases, I suggest you wait for the XviDs. It’s an upscale from 480p either way so you shouldn’t miss too much in quality (except then for audio, which is a downgrade from lossless FLAC to quite lossy mp3).
with only 512 KB/s i still can download even 6,1 GB for one episode of movie….so why an excuse like that still exist?
Mind you 512KB/s is already considered broadband. I’m stuck at a max speed of 105KB/s, but I still happily download large 1080p releases. Yet, consider that a lot of people can’t leave their computer on 24/7, and a lot of ISP’s still enforce transfer limits. I used to (up till six months ago) have a 60GB allowance. I had the habit of wasting it within the week, having to settle for 3 weeks of smallband. Oh and it cost me 55 euros a month, it was the best subscription I could get here.
Things developed in this rich West-European country and allowances were increased (a little) and in some cases, mostly expensive ones, they were lifted and swapped for fups. Doesn’t mean people have access to nice internet everywhere.
Please, be mindful and realise that is a very valid excuse. Not everyone likes to wait two hours until their episode of fishbride01 is done downloading.

This is awesome news – thanks for taking the time to sub this, it’s truly one of the best anime comedies ever.
Finally someone is gonna complete the series. My ugly set with like 5 fansubbers in shitty quality can now be removed.

Finally, this is the first anime I downloaded since my net got upgraded from 56k to DSL. After compiling almost 200 burned discs, I still don’t have one for Seto no Hanayome. Doki, you’re a savior ^^

Don’t take this as a offence, but it always bugs me a little, that fansubs always translate the kanji in in the letters so we kan pronounce it too.
But the never translate what it means.
So in english terms…..
TL: Seto no Hanayome
It means “The Bride of Seto” or “Seto’s Bride”
To reply your point,
Usually fansubber prefer to keep with the original jpn name of the series unless if it has an official english name counterpart from the jp version.
For example,
้ผใฎ้ฌ้่กๅธซ – Hagane no Renkinjutsushi
It’s official English name is Fullmetal Alchemist
But literal translation is Alchemist of Steel
or
ๅญฆๅ้ป็คบ้ฒ – Gakuen Mokushiroku
It’s official English name is High School of the Dead
But literal translation is Apocalypse Academy
but for like say
ใใคใใฎใใจใ! – Hayate no Gotoku!
It has an unofficial English name: Hayate the Combat Butler!
or
็ฌๆธใฎ่ฑๅซ – Seto no Hanayome
My Bride is a Mermaid was its official English name that was only given (correct me if I’m wrong) when trying to market outside of Japan.
So another reason why fansubbers won’t translate the original Japanese title name if there was no available English title for them when they are fansubbing a particular series as they don’t want to alienate the community too much.
Think about if they did to all the series than we would be getting something like: Sunshine Sketch, Blessing of the Campanella, The Bride of Seto or Student Council Judgement. While, they are titles like Seiken no Blacksmith where fansubber where in favor of a unofficial title, The Sacred Blacksmith. But theres also incident the Japanese title is in favor over the official English title. Example, the Higurashi or Umineko series where it was in favor over “When they cry” title. But its also a case by case basics.
So, it just the best intention of the fansubber to use a title name that is widely accepted.
We’ll name it however we want it.
Personally, I like the Japanese naming better, since it’s left at an original state. If you know what I mean…

Translated fully it would be more like “The Bell of the Blessing” or simply “The Blessing Bell”.
I am glad to see that someone is going to make sure it gets done all the way this time. I watched this on hulu and could stop laughing. I was laughing so hard by the end of the first episode that my side was killing me. Cant wait for all the release, thanks guys!!!!

Listen, I hate to be a buzzkill to everyone celebrating this one, but I watched up to 8 episodes of this on Hulu and never even laughed. I could understand the appeal of drama (Air, Kanon) and I can understand the appeal of breasts (Qwaser), and I can understand the appeal of sex comedy (Seitokai Yakuindomo), and I even understand the appeal of something being just too damn cute you have to watch it (Shukufuku No Campanella), but where does this show even fall in? Have I failed to understand Japanese comedy?
Somebody give me a hand here, tell me which episode you thought was most funny or something.

Reason for I rage quited this series:
Ayako & your-mom(wtf the typeset) plus delay delay delay + the drama. While, I lol-ed hard on the comedy but only that alone I appreciated from it but the other parts are just not my cup of tea.
Since Doki is taking this, I might reconsider watching the series over again.

I like this show though. The maniacal dad reminds me of the father from Hogizaka no Himitsu. Possibly my favorite character from that show.
