I will give you some advice about this anime. It has been licensed by FUNimation. If you don’t want to get C&D letters I would drop this one If I were you. A fansub group’s job is to sub new anime that is not licensed in the US or out of Japan and then drop it when it get Licensed.
that is true but you still have to go by national and international licenses and with the internet it is not that hard to get the dvd’s of this anime so please support the anime industry by dropping this one and do anime you like that are not licensed by any anime distributor. Live-Evil is a long running fansub group has made fansubbing possible by talking with the licensing companies to allow fansubbing to continue with on stipulation that all fansub groups drop and remove all anime that are licensed and released on dvd. I am a fan of this group and do not want to see it get shut down because it did not follow the guild lines that was set by their mentors.
Yes, so it’s licensed in America by an American company that holds no jurisdiction in the UK.
“If you don’t want to get C&D letters I would drop this one If I were you.”
A C&D letter from FUNi would mean nothing to Doki, as FUNi has no licensing jurdisdiction in the UK.
“A fansub group’s job is to sub new anime that is not licensed in the US or out of Japan and then drop it when it get Licensed.”
Why the US? Why not the UK? Why not Australia? Why not the Ivory Coast?
“that is true but you still have to go by national and international licenses”
International license-wise, fansubbing is illegal, even if it isn’t licensed in your home country. Take the show “Canaan” for example. Even though, at that time, it hasn’t been licensed outside of Japan, people still received DMCAs from Showgate. However, since Showgate didn’t have licensing jurisdiction outside of Japan, it was just an empty threat.
“and with the internet it is not that hard to get the dvd’s of this anime so please support the anime industry by dropping this one and do anime you like that are not licensed by any anime distributor.”
Why not just buy all anime then? All anime comes out on DVD/BD in Japan, and since you can order it online, then you shouldn’t watching fansubs/raws at all, and support the industry by buying those raw DVD/BDs.
“Live-Evil is a long running fansub group has made fansubbing possible by talking with the licensing companies to allow fansubbing to continue with on stipulation that all fansub groups drop and remove all anime that are licensed and released on dvd.”
Since when did Live-Evil speak for every single fansub group in existence? Furthermore, how can a licensing company C&D/DMCA you if they don’t even hold licensing rights to the show?
“I am a fan of this group and do not want to see it get shut down because it did not follow the guild lines that was set by their mentors.”
Doki has done licensed shows before. They’ve probably gotten tons of C&Ds/DMCAs already. They’re still here.
I would like to point out that it’s not even a matter of licensing in the UK. The servers that actually do the releasing is in France atm. Servers can move to the Netherlands or Russia with the fans’ support if necessary, where anything goes.
Thanks for your concern Brian, but your fear for Doki’s safety is unfounded. We’re going nowhere anytime soon.
And just because someone downloads fansubs, it doesn’t mean that they won’t support the anime industry. Hell, I am going to Japan in 3 weeks time and will buy stuff, to support the anime industry.
I actually had to see the trivia entry on AnimeNewsNetwork to know what that was (I saw it, but I never watched the original Kanon so I didn’t really know when I first watched the episode).
I didn’t notice it :S
Thanks by the way for doing this classic in HD.
Aww, this san-shoujo combo is just too much :->
I watched Kanon, loved it & became Key follower than i watched Air so I noticed it xD
that scene appeared? lol never noticed T.T
It appears for like 1 second, so unless you are a diehard Key fan, it is unlikely that you noticed lol.
i noticed it maybe 5-6 years ago….XD when my friend took a print screen on it….XD

A fansub group’s job is to sub whatever they like. Not everyone lives in America and can buy this if they want to watch it.
Who gives a shit about licensing anymore?
And like Holo said, Funimation need to realize that there’s a world outside of the U.S.
Also, Air had not been released in BD in any country but Japan. That’s not fair to anyone but the Japanese.

I don’t have access to internet. So I want this.
This anime has not been licensed in blu ray in any country but Japan.
Thanks for the release (:
Re-watching every Key’s Animation in BD just makes life better 😀
I didnt know that. Awesome though.
But a fansub group still does what they like in the end 😮

Prepare to be countered.

We’re going no where. No need to worry.

How would dropping this support the anime industry? Not like all of us are going to buy it if it’s dropped.
i lol’ed when i saw that dumb Brian barking….
so yeah i don’t care about licensing of F*CKnimation
i lived in Asia so i don’t care about US license or whatever else….

Get me something please :3

make sure that whenever you buy anime it is not region coded, which is another thing keep in mind.
How many people noticed the Kanon cameo in this episode I wonder?
In Japan, quite a few. KyoAni was reportedly bombarded by pleas for them to remake Kanon after this episode originally aired.
Who could blame them, Toei are terrible…
so thats how kanon 2006 came to be O_o lol thx for the info
