My Christmas wish is the completion of Ranma.
It’s been a year – let’s hope anonymlol delivers this time again!
This show ;w;
Excelent. How* many more are left to have this complete? I want to see it all at once…
Thanks again, and again, and again…
Volume 1 was only 1 episode,
and assuming all the rest have 2 episodes,
there will be 7 volumes total,
ending on episode 13.
Hehehe, I’ll wait, then.
Sorry about the ‘Who’. This damn fingers ¬_¬.
Thanks for the release. Just a question out of curiosity, your file sizes are pretty small, yet after comparing with other encodes I don’t notice a quality difference. How are you doing that?
Why’s the video zoomed in?
Issue with the source requires cropping of the edges.
Between the studios’ encoding from source or the distributors’ encoding to disc, the edging on most BDs are “trashed”.
Oh really? Would you be so kind and provide an example pic? For science!
Nope. Grab the source and see for yourself~
See HS rips of pretty much all CR/Funimation stuff for examples.
Rather extreme example:

Yes, I know it’s just the logo screen, but it’s a fine example. It’s less extreme on BDs of course, but still there on a lot of them.
ixlone, Zdm321: Thank you for those examples! You learn something new everyday ^_^
Taken from Sally Subs: http://s15.postimg.org/nvjyn3zmx/1449687821_4219806735.png
Easily noticeable along the bottom. There’s a couple pixels high of black borders, plus a couple pixels high of blurring along the edges. Once cropped off and resized back to 1920×1080, comparing it to the uncropped source makes it look a bit more zoomed in.
Aside from the almost imperceptible bottom border that SallySubs’ release has, I’m not seeing anything that would warrant cropping off so much of the video.
Download sallysubs then.
Man, I dislike downloading other people’s stuff, or comparing in general, since every group likes to do things their own way and I don’t really care how other people do theirs… but whatever, for the sake of comparison.
Doki (lines look cleaner to me too) slightly cropped, Sally not cropped, see below:

Doki 472mb ep 1 vs Sally 1.467gb ep 1, Sally size is probably partly because they added a metric ton of grain to the encode to remove the minor amount of banding, (I did add a small amount to ours, althought through a different filter that didn’t add the same effect). The following screenshot is exactly the same frame, ours is black, theirs is grainy, the entire ep has that effect.

Meh, not actually picking fault with their release.
Like I said, to each their own. I prefer to crop shit from edges, they prefer to add massive amounts of grain, whatever.
Not checking the scans vs romaji is pretty lazy though!
What the fuck is your problem odinigh? I just said that I don’t see why the video was cropped so much. And I still don’t.
So go with sallysubs!
Thankfully, I rarely notice things like this when watching anime anyway, and even with unmoving comparison shots, I often struggle to see the differences, which I am glad is the case. I don’t need to worry about obsessing over getting the “best”, “perfect” or whatever quality for every anime release. I do obsess over going for blurays over TV releases whenever possible, since I do notice and care about the often vast difference in video quality, but little (they’re little to me) things like this? Nah. This is why I tend to care more about the quality of the actual fansubs when deciding what group to pick for each show, and why BakaBT often annoys me with their tendency to value video quality too highly, and subs too little.
BakaBT is still a thing?
Apparently.
