For the typesetting of the cellphone texts at 10:55, would Doki (Jocko?) consider to place the typesets in the empty space below the original texts, or on the wooden floor background besides the cellphone, or to simply rely on the translated dialogue (without typesetting the cellphone content), so that the original texts will not be blocked?
Or you can just press S to turn the subs off.

Either way, the workaround requires more than one click. Here is what I did during the first watch:
1. Pause;
2. Turn off subs;
3. Turn on subs;
4. Unpause.
The scene at 10:55 is fairly slow, so maybe I could have gone through it with two clicks (i.e. turn subs on/off), but with faster scenes or signs that are just there on the screen (and not voiced over), I often find myself having to rewind and replay, as well (i.e. five clicks or more).
I like to leave as much japanese text as I can, but there’s no space for the sender and message topic, so if I’m going to cover one bit of the japanese, I’ll cover it all.

With XBMC You can turn them off by simply touching “T”, then back on with “T”, whether it’s playing or not.

No disrespect intended though. I really appreciate your work.
One of my TL pet peeves is when a spoken English word is not in the English translated subs. I realize it may not always work well, but as I’m the TL and QC, I try to keep English words in the subs if they can reasonably fit. Sorry it may not to be to your liking, but I don’t plan on changing that.
Jakeman, I have the same pet peeve as you, but Japan tends to change the meaning of some of the English they adopt. Like using “bitch” when we’d use “slut” in English.
May I ask, what else would it have been translated as?

Huh. Interesting. Quite a different meaning there.
It could be translated to “figure”, as I used that in Trinity Seven as I couldn’t get style to work nicely in the line.
Yeah, sutairu (“style”–but more or less means “(nice) figure”) and guramaa (“glamour”–but means “busty”) are good examples of wasei-eigo, where Japanese have adopted English words to have new or slightly altered meanings (sometimes self-consciously so, but usually the original English meaning is quickly forgotten). I have the same peeve of hearing “English” in dialogue normally and the word isn’t used in the translation, but there’s a lot of cases where it won’t work, or the subtle difference really could warrant using a better word in the context.
My favorite example of twisted wasei-eigo is how “feminist” in Japanese kana doesn’t mean someone who advocates women’s rights, but rather a womanizer (think Touga in Utena). Another odd and less loaded one is “consent”, which means “electric outlet” (it’s originally short for “concentric plug”).
Of course English does it to Japanese words too, like “hentai” adopted as a catch-all term for all Japanese erotic anime/manga/doujinshi/games in English, when it is rarely used that way in Japanese and more specifically means a perverted person.
Also, is it just me or does the audio feel a bit out of sync?
