I’ve noticed, that at least in the first episode of the season, there is some overscan in comparison to CG. Does anyone know why this is the case?

Are you talking about the 2 pixel cropping around the edges?
It doesn’t seen like cropping, Doki is zoomed in a bit more, some picture is lost.
What does cropping seem like then?

There are two things that sound different to me in the songs.
Opening: egaita sounds like kaita and in the ending sabishikute sounds like samishikute to me. Maybe you can check that?
official lyric already release for SAO OP & ED song and as I know doki always use official lyric for their karaoke. I think you heard wrong.
Actually, he was right 😀 Those 2 kanji can be read either way. They’ve been fixed for vol 4+.

Well, it was my assumption that true cropping was to eliminate black bar and retain correct aspect ratio. This is only a loss of information from something of already poor video quality. What does it seem like to you?
