That scene where he asks her if she was going to answer her phone… was cringe-worthy. Poor Yui… she’s my favorite girl, too!
At least her seiyuu is voicing – and sounds almost identical to – Chi-chan from Maou-sama! Not to mention Chi-chan is doing a *lot* better in that series both in terms of popularity and odds of ‘winning’. Chi-chan is absolutely crushing every other girl in terms of pixiv fanart; a very, very big (and reliable) indicator of a girl’s ‘popularity’ in Japan. Whether popularity = ‘winning’ is up for debate…
At least Chi-chan isn’t being flat out rejected by her love interest in the hopes of “maintaining the status quo”… seriously, Hachiman is very witty but at the same time EXTREMELY beta. In a few years Hachiman is going to look back on his *very* short time in high school and really regret having Yui be ‘the one who got away…’
Really, Yui is perfect wife material compared to Yukino. I couldn’t imagine that arrogant girl having children and them actually turning out normal at all. I’ve read the LNs and Hachiman’s reasons for rejecting Yui are very, very shallow and basically highlight his lack of foresight.
I suppose that’s the point of OreGairu though; it is about a pretentious teenage boy who figuratively keeps shooting himself in the foot in various ways. Socially, romantically, etc. Hachiman is a walking “epic fail” in Light Novel (and now, anime) form. Think he’s bad now? Wait for the next few episodes. He’s even worse in Volume 7, but that isn’t being animated… or so I’ve heard. The final 3 episods will be about the school festival (Volume 6) which will feature the girl introduced this past episode: Sagami, aka that bitch who made fun of Yui with Hachiman.
Yui best waifu.
Thanks! 😀
Why isn’t the imouto an option in the “Favourite Yahari… Girl?” poll!?!??!?! D:
Because it’s not fair for the other girls
Because she was out-femaled by the trap >_>
Don’t worry, she’s not the only one I forgot to add.
