Basically if you watch the anime first you’l spoil the game, however if you don’t care about spoilers and knowing who the big bad is, and the whole Midnight Channel/Mayonaka TV thing being explained, watch the anime lol
The game is so good that really, even if you watch the anime first, you’l still enjoy the game.
Anyway if you’re wanting to watch a Megaten anime series, Devil Survivor 2 the Animation is out soon in Japan.

That would be advisable in all honesty, the game is VERY long and knowing what comes ahead might ruin it for you.

Slightly offtopic but I’m really looking forward to Persona 5 lol, which should be revealed this year.
I just figured this was the first Persona game he has heard about. Not too unlikely when you consider how much Persona 4 has been supported recently.
As for which is better… I forgot how highly disputed that was. π
Disregarding which game is better, I DO think Persona 3 is worth checking out before you play Persona 4, some of the mechanics may drag you down otherwise.
I enjoyed Persona 3 so I agree with you, ironically I made it near the top of Tartarus and kept dying to Hama/Mudo attacks ages ago before someone suggested on the Cbox to use a Persona immune to it. It was my first Persona game too.
Shame they never made an anime about Persona 3, I know they’re doing a movie but it wouldn’t feel the same, the game is so dark and creepy with its Dark Hour transmogrification stuff.
Certainly if he tries Persona 3 first he’l see a much different tone to Persona 4, the 3rd game is more serious with a darker atmosphere and the 4th more upbeat and happy even when things are looking grim π
I would watch the anime or play Persona 3 first if I were you. Persona 3 is a MUCH more memorable game, but the game mechanics are a bit more archaic since it’s older. It’ll be hard to go back to it once you’ve played Persona 4.
Odd suggestion that, as watching the anime first would spoil the game in its entirety and he only seems interested in the Persona 4 game/anime.
Personally I found the Persona 4 game to be much more memorable, certainly the Golden edition was heaps of fun to play and the story and everything else was better.

Wait what? O_o I don’t care about commentary tracks personally, since I never listen to them anyway, but I still have to ask: Why on earth would you REMOVE the commentary tracks from the previous episodes if they were included initially? O_o That makes zero sense. In fact it makes like -200%. Or am I missing something/misunderstanding something here?
For consistency, to remove the bloat, because they annoy us, and because there Are also various script-fixes for 1-12.

The only reference to Persona 3 is in Episode 15, the trip to the Highschool with a cameo from a certain character, and of course the location the game was based in..

I LOVE the new battle music in Golden, sounds so much better also when you use the SOS system and a half dozen people have ‘helped’.
I only wish they dubbed the Tanaka Shopping channel, like every segment, the music is so catchy.
