why not do the first season no one else worth noting has done it imo
It’s been licensed already, although it would be cool if Doki subbed it, I don’t think they sub anime that’s been licensed. Plus it’s quite old by now.
We do licensed stuff.
But we have enough to do without picking up older shows.
Pretty much anyone who wants to see the first season of Higurashi has seen it already, the show is like super old now.
That and I don’t think Season 1 is even out on Blu Ray in Japan. And if you meant DVD, hundreds of people have done this on DVD that it’d be pretty pointless to do.
From AniDB, the series has apparently been released on Bluray, and one group has done it, but none in English…Getting S1 Bluray would be nice, but I’m not counting on any groups to bother doing it anymore these days, though it’s a shame…This is the case with several older shows actually…There still hasn’t been any properly well done fansubs of Death Note for instance, imo. Either the subs are bad, or the video quality is bad. I haven’t managed to find a version where both were good…
Oh, I’m surprised. I looked around a few websites like CDjapan and Amazon Japan and couldn’t find any reference to Season 1 being on Blu Ray.
Unless it was a super rare limited time only thing. The only ones I can find are the OVAs aka these episodes.
Hmm, I don’t know, maybe that Polish group has posted that it has done the show in Bluray, but in fact it hasn’t, and there is no Bluray? ┐(￣_￣)┌ Seems quite likely, I can’t find anything about S1 Higurashi Blurays either.
I know some shows get country specific releases like in Germany or France or somewhere like that where a lot of English speakers probably wouldn’t even notice, maybe thats how a Season 1 Blu Ray could exist? Honestly don’t know..

So, the first episode was released on the 15th of August, 2011. The second a whopping 9 months later, then the third was released only 1 month later, and then another 4 months went by before this one was finally done. So in total, this small, 4-OVA series has been in the making at Doki for 14 months…Phew! 😛
