The lack of symmetry in the site is disturbing, or at least putting me of.

The current layout and look of the site is nice. I like it. ; )

“How are we finding this layout? -Holo”

too wide. otherwise it looks nice.

    thoughts:

    – move “Spring ’12” and “Reseeding” to top of left column.
    – move “Hi10P (Updated)” to right column between Donations and Blogs.
    – remove the ‘fixed’ width from the content column.

    other requested changes:

    – in the sections “Spring ’12”
    – – please link to each category from its title.
    – – please add the last completed episode number.
    – – please include how many total episodes there are.
    – – please add a link to what “On Schedule” means, and/or, what step you’re on in the schedule.

    – somewhere near the “Notice:” section please add a link to all prior polls.

some other thoughts, but not really doable, so skipping them.

    Best,
    Onii

Hmm,I don’t really agree that it’s too wide. Moving “Spring ’12″ and “Reseeding” to top of left column also seems unnecessary. I don’t know what you mean by removing the ‘fixed’ width from the content column. The rest of the points you make seem sensible, though I wouldn’t really consider any of them all that important, except for linking to each category from its title. That’s a really good idea.

        > “I don’t really agree that it’s too wide”

Well then moving the elements to remove the third column would seem unnecessary 😉 With the third removed the site seems to fall below the magic ~1,000 pix threshold.

        > “don’t know what you mean by removing the ‘fixed’ width from the content column.”

The content column is normally the main column that holds, well, content. e.g. blog posts, articles, etc.

It’s currently a fixed width, such that if a user expands or contracts their browser, it doesn’t change to suit the users desires. In general, side bars are fixed width and main content floats.

But, both of the above are UX 101 issues. And, you’d have to chat with an actual UX designer for specifics, as that’s not my forte, as I’m a backend developer.

The rest of the points are from a backend perspective as they would only take adding a couple hidden fields to posts and few lines of code to automate. Which I wouldn’t mind doing for Doki, except I don’t do WordPress. (Not that I recommend Doki switch to Drupal for better functionality either, as you’re a fan site, not a commercial entity.)

Hopefully that helps explain my suggestions.

        Best Regards,
        Onii
