I really wouldn’t like to start yet another pointless argument for/against Hi10p, but really, what’s there to “like” or “not like” about it? Just update your codecs and you’re again watching anime like there’s no tomorrow, and you can just not care if it’s 8-bit or 10-bit. Personally, if a release is Hi10p, I watch it, and if it’s 8-bit, I still watch it. No biggie.
I’m all for Hi10p, but saying “just update your codecs” is missing a large part of the issue. Some people might be watching anime on tablets, smartphones, netbooks and other slow (but lightweight) hardware that needs decoding by the GPU. Transcoding to 8 bits is a solution but, first, it requires learning how to transcode and, second, it’s a bit of a hassle.
So watch it at 480p in 8bit on the shitty little screen on their tablet, phone or netbook.
Komedy didn’t say that he’s watching anime on some other device than his computer but simply that he does not “like” Hi10p, which is what I primarily wanted to comment on. Playing Hi10p differs in no way from playing 8-bit on a PC, so I really, really, really don’t see the problem there, no matter how hard I’ve been trying to understand.
Thank you altazure, exactly, it’s a metter of preference (i’m still watching this), I have many programs opened in my laptop while watching anime and VLC (the one I like the most) can’t reproduce 10-bit, to use the other one I have to close at least the web browser. It’s NOT the big deal but I still prefer 8-bit.

Actually, komedy27u, VLC very recently released an update, and it can now play 10-bit. ; ) Go grab it! I can relate to your problem, since I use VLC when I can myself, but playing 10-bit with it is now a problem of the past. ; )
A single core cpu laptop doesn’t have what it takes to play 720p-hi10P or 1080p-8bit. That’s the real problem, not codecs. And there are a lot of single-core cpu laptops in use today and for the next 2 years at least. Maybe longer, as apps move to the cloud. These laptops can, however, play 720p-8bit, although they may need to use better video players than vlc, mpc-hc, or (s)mplayer2 which have always been slow-pokes in my testings before.
The truth is 720p-8bit is just perfect for enjoying animation for many/most people. It satisfies me completely. 480p is too crude and 1080p doesn’t move me. 720p-hi10P doesn’t move me either.
What bothers me is the fractionating of the anime fanbase. Adding 720p-hi10P is great. Trying to subtract 720p-8bit is not. The whole problem is the subtraction of the 8bit option for those who want/need it. MU was a wake-up call. There is safety in numbers. Anime-fansubbing could quickly go from too big to kill to small enough to squish. If Hollywood gets 4 more years in the White House, look out.
To brighten the mood, this new season has a lot of promising titles. But be quick. People are already having trouble getting some early episodes of the current season.

Good I was putting off watching more then the first episode of this from HS in hopes it would appear here.
I seem to always drop the HS version for Doki. XD Did it with Brave 10 and Idolm@ster. I just hope this doesnt get delayed

I’d like to know what changes have been made to EveTaku’s script – is it just spelling errors and the like, or is it more substantial? Also, they’ll be releasing a batch shortly and “script corrections” are mentioned – are you working off the original versions, or do you have access to these corrections for this BD release?

The links to the xdcc turn up pages with no results because the tags that the links search for just say [Doki], which should be [Doki-NFP]. Not a major issue but still something you may want to fix.
