Mere days after I finished watching coalgirl’s releases, damn.
Excellent series either way, still feeling the harsh sting of a favourite pairing that never came to fruition, so very sad :'(

So how does the video quality compare to Coalgirls release? I just got theirs since it was completed and I will always prefer Doki over Coalgirls.
Is there anything different between this and DVD release? Beside quality of course.

Can tell me which player and codec u using? I had some trouble playing 10bit releases
I use Combined Codec Community Pack, with it’s built in Media Player Classic. However, I don’t use the built in H.264 codec. I bought CoreAVC, it’s a 10-12 dollar codec that is designed by the people who made MKV. So far it’s the fastest H.264 decoder I have found. CCCP’s free codec will also work if you can’t buy CoreAVC yet. If you still have trouble with this setup even WITH CoreAVC. There is one of 2 things. 1 you’re computer may be too weak to decode and process the information fast enough. 2 If you’re on Windows 7 sometimes installing a codec doesn’t direct Windows to use that codec. and Instead windows uses it’s built in Codec which is buggy, and that’s the problem I didn’t know about for 6 months. You need to use a Preferred Filter Tweaker for Windows 7. I used Win7DSFilterTweaker personally. Hope this helps you.

I bought the codec because I needed it in order to get the anime to play properly on my PS3. I stream my anime to my TV because that’s how anime was meant to be seen. That and my TV has better specs than my monitor. higher contrast, LED, 46in instead of 20. Who wouldn’t want to lie in to watch anime? And before someone says, “why not just plug the computer straight to the TV?” I do the streaming because I have 2 other PS3s in 2 other room. Living room and such. I can watch anime from any single one of those PS3 simultaneously without needing to make a copy of the anime.
I would suggest K-lite Mega Codec Pack. It contains every thing you need to play 10-bit smoothly. Just follow the installation instructions closely.

Seriously, why is the 8bit vs 10bit argument still going on? It’s easy to get your PC running 10bits. If you can’t manage it, how do you manage to even read subtitles? 10bit is better, like a combustion engine is better than a steam engine – move with the times. Those who can’t see this are idiots.
To those idiots:
1. Download CCCP,
2. Try/acquire CoreAVC or stick with CCCPs LAV or ffdshow codecs.
3. Adjust CCCP settings to whichever codec you’re trying.
4. Done
Extra. I also have AviSynth and VSFilter plugin installed for streaming to PS3 – not needed if watching on PC, but try it and see. My PC is an AMD triple core Phenom from mid-2008 with onboard graphics and 4gb of RAM, and was a shop bought one for about $350 (£250), and runs everything perfectly. Most of you are having issues with newer PCs with FAR better specs. Why are you having problems?!
Personally, I don’t think Doki should bother making 8bits for you guys. It takes up their time and server space. Seriously, why not keep up with modernity? It’s like saying “oh yeah, my phone from 2002 is still as good as a modern smartphone, but it doesn’t run apps, thus no-one else should have apps either and I’ll complain like a 2-year-old unless they make apps for me”. You’re all idiots.

Because most computers can’t handle 10bit.
Thankfully, mine can just manage… at about 50 ~ 99%.
Because the “idiots” are the people who think they are getting much of anything with a 10-bit release and are railing against 8-bit as if it’s holding them back when it’s actually still the current standard.
Add to that, with the right hardware, and a GPU made for video, 8-bit still looks better than 10-bit, at least on everything I’ve seen.
10-bit might look better on systems that are doing software decoding anyway, but that’s about it. My guess is that’s where this whole 10-bit thing is coming from.
Eventually its time will come, and Hi10p will be mainstream, but for right now, 8-bit is where it’s at, and the “10-bit only” crowd is just making itself look stupid with such elitist snob attitudes towards others.

Well, I’m liking the show. Overall, a nice touch, but I wish the ppl they ACTUALLY love paid more attention. It’s just heart-wrenching to see it at times, but the bond that those two share make the story worthwhile.
