Good anime but I read in the first post a while ago that you used those squidy subs? Did you edit those at all? It was so awful, to be honest. They took a subtle ka->ika wordplay in most cases and chaged it to the most unsubtle in-your-face insert “squidly” or “squidding” into every goddamn thing she says lol.

I find it unbearable to watch. But what people think about it isn’t the point. The point is it’s a horrible translation of something subtle being blown way out of context.
Anyway, I take it that’s a yes on the squid talk in these too? I guess I’ll go with FFFpeeps.
Considering how completely lost the actual Japanese would be on most people, I think squidding and squidly make a good substitute.
I like it too, and with Nana’s TLC and Paw’s edit the subs are a hell of a lot better.

I’m with eeka on this one, actually. “Translating” “de geso~” in such a way doesn’t feel right with me to begin with, and in this case the incessant repetitive use of it can make it annoying as well.
You mean as opposed to the incessant repetitive use of ‘de geso~’?
The difference is she’s actually saying de geso. She’s not saying all the squidly stuff they added in. She’s actually just mispronouncing some words so it sounds like they have ika (squid) in the word. There’s probably other puns but I don’t remember.
It’s like if you too the English phrase, “*Wood* you chop that tree down?” and translated it to, “Would you chop that wooding tree down?”
See the difference? Knot a very good translation hehe
