Episode 16 will use editions. By default is the edition without the ED, because let’s face it, after that happens, you really don’t want to hear an upbeat ED, do you?
Edition 2 will play the file as normal. Just note, The ED sequence is present in the file, but just “hidden” in edition 1. That means, I did not cut it out of the episode.
If enough people disagree with my use of editions, I will remove it in the batch.
I will release Volume 5 on Thursday, then I will begin the encoding of Lucky Star while working on Haruhi. Haruhi will be complete next week. The week after, I will release Lucky Star.

I like seeing the upbeat ending despite what happens in the episodes. It takes some of the edge off.
Am I really the only one that agrees with Holo?
In fact, I’d rather hear the dango song after this episode.
In fact, they would’ve better used the dango song as ED for whole After Story.

You are definitely not alone. In fact, I would actually place the first season’s ED after the AS episodes if I had any clue about video editing.
Merushi is right the dango song would have been perfect for ep16 ending.

I disagree with a LOT of things KyoAni did with After Story, and this was one of them. I prefer your decision of cutting out the ED, for what it’s worth.
On the other hand, Doki’s After Story for me is the definitive release to be archived — and so should strive to stay faithful to the original. I think you should probably keep the original “edition” as default — and then include your edition as the secondary option. (I see this has been recommended by other people as well.)
Sounds sensible enough. At least it keeps the option of getting rid of the ED for all of us who don’t want to see it.
Yes. As long the original “as in the BD” is kept as default, we will not have any complaints.
I can’t believe how many people were complaining about the ED then all of a sudden the ED lovers show up from out of nowhere. If you really want to watch that mood-killer so much just do the extra step. They didn’t take it out,they merely hid it.
Also, even if leaving THAT ED was the director’s choice it doesn’t change the fact it destroys the atmosphere. Dango Daikazoku was a more neutral ed that would fit regardless of how an episode ended but Torch just destroys all that emotion that the episode builds up to the end.

What happens with Kyou? Is it a different “that” than I thought? Or did it already happen in an earlier episode?
Kyou gets her own episode. Episode 24/25, in fact.
Whilst I like the fact that the ED has been removed, the change is emotion is way too jolting and really takes from the experience, I agree with other users above that it should be made secondary to the original setting – it is the original after all.
I would like to see Dango Daikazoku as third option though.:D (I have no idea how much effort this would take though – if it’s too much trouble then don’t bother.)
Just would like to cast my vote; I prefer to have original as default ie. default is ED is played. Yes I know it can be turned back on, but, say, if your releases are someone’s first exposure to CLANNAD AF, then they wouldn’t know that it wasn’t the way it was supposed to be.
On personal note, I think the upbeat ED after depressing story has its own charm. It is one of my favorite point about Mahoromatic anime: You see the remaining number of days, then 360 degree turn to upbeat ED.
Want to clarify that I have no problem with editions. I even slightly support having edition without ED and with Dango Daikazoku ED, but the original (ie. Torch ED) should be default.
Please Keep the edition in which the ED is present as the default one.

I only agree with the BD. If ED plays, then make it play in the episode and any “unofficial” changes kept as “optional” (in this case as “edition 2”).
But anyways, you’re the encoder, do as you like :3. Anyone can then modify the chapters file to suit his/her needs and remux 😛

Like many others have said, I too would like to have the option to turn off the ED, and I would probably use it too, but I would still like the ED to play by default, not the other way around.

Well, I always skip the OP/EDS , so I would rather have it this way. For those who want to see it “the original way” will have to do what people like me do all the time: Take some effort to have the video play the way we want it. I mean, all they have to do is select the second edition. Is that a big deal?
Actually yes, I can go back and forth with chapters with my remote, but I can’t switch “editions”. At least PotPlayer doesn’t have the option (I can control the whole player from the remote), nor MPC-HC. The only way to change “editions” is from “outside” the player, right click Haali’s icon in tray and switch from the there. Quite a pain if it’s a winter night and you’re warm in bed under some quilts 😛
Of course, as I’ve said before, you can edit the chapters yourself in mkvtoolnix and simply remux 😀

My personal preference, for continuity of the series, is to have the ending as default with no ending as the alternate. I would probably use it most of the time, however.
I vote for the default Edition being the one without the Ending.
I disagree with that, because when I originally watched it, when it ended i was all like WTF, WHY! but now I feel like it makes sense, and works really well.
