Time for an all round update. Btw I’ll post up my pics of Japan on my blog at some point.
Anyway, down to business. The next season (Autumn 2010) will start soon. I am in my third and final year of uni now, which means I have to work more and fansub less. Releases from myself may be less frequent than they have been up til now.
Blu-Ray Shows
B Gata H Kei
- 1-12 has been translated, timed and being edited. Awaiting encode.
Kiss x Sis (Holo’s project)
- 4-5 are awaiting encode.
- 6+ need TL, but at this rate we’ll probably borrow Ryuumaru’s translation to use as source.
Mayoi Neko Overrun (Holo’s project)
- All episodes translated, just awaiting for the Blu-Ray to all be released.
Saki (Jecht’s project)
- 9-10 @ TS.
- 11@ Edit.
- 12+@ Time.
Seikon no Qwaser (Holo’s project)
- 09-12 @ Dmon.
- 13-16 @ Wait for BD Encode.
- 17+ @ TL.
Senkou no Night Raid (Jecht’s project)
- 10-13 @ Edit + QC + Rel.
- 06+ (BD) waiting for Vol.
Seto no Hanayome (Holo’s project)
- 02-03 @ Release.
- 04+ @ Gyzome for edit etc.
Summer 2010 Shows
Campanella (Holo’s project)
- Batch pending.
- Yes, we are doing the Blu-Rays.
Seitokai (Holo’s project)
- Finding a TL for this show seems futile… I guess we will have to use Ryuumaru’s TL as source and release Blu-Rays.
Asobi (Jecht’s project)
- We will finish and batch.
- Yes, we are doing the Blu-Rays.
Autumn 2010 Shows
TBC
- We plan to only pick up 1 show, due to lack of time on my part and the amount of backlogs Jecht and I have to complete. We hope to get rid of the backlog before Christmas.
- We have ideas on what show it is likely to be, but for now we won’t be revealing it.
Regarding mkvmerge 4.3.0
Read this.
Solution?
Get rid of whatever player you are using, and download K-Lite Codec Pack. At the time of writing, 6.4.0 is the latest version.
Alternatively, download CCCP. At the time of writing, 2009-09-09 is the latest version. A beta version is available as well. Thanks to Narru for pointing this out.
Use Media Player Classic which comes with both of these codec packs. I guarantee that it will be able to play anything that gets thrown at it.
Please note that we do not provide support for any other players, so if you insist on using something else, please don’t bug us if something doesn’t work.
If you are among the minority, and use Linux, then change to Windows like the rest of the world… J/k. Just follow these instructions by anon.

1. Download, compile, build, and install the latest mplayer svn from mplayer’s main site:
2. (Optional, but I did it) Download and install the latest smplayer by adding smplayer’s repo to your sources.list in /etc/apt/
3. Reboot (might as well)
4. ???
5. Profit
Also (I have no idea what this means btw)…

I had problems getting this play using mplayer.
A mkvinfo shows something new:
+ Content encodings
+ Content encoding
+ Content compression
+ Algorithm: 3 (header removal)
A search came up with a solution, use:
mplayer -demuxer lavf
Apparently re-muxing the file using a pre 4.x version of mkvmerge also works.
Servers and Donations
It’s time for a server upgrade. As you some of you may have experienced, at release times, the blog tends to lag for ages. This is because the website is hosted on a celeron server (100 Mbits), which also hosts Doki|Kotomi as well as other sites.
I plan to upgrade to a i7-2T server with a 1 GBit connection to host the blog and more bots. The monthly cost will be 82 GBP, which is around 120 USD. A part of this sum (30-40 USD) will be met from DDL money, so I only ask for 80-90 USD in donations.
I will also be upgrading our other server, from 500 GB celeron to a 4 TB celeron, but all monthly costs incurred will be met by myself and Arigold.
All set up costs will be raised by selling anime mousemats. Selling 10 mousemats successfully will cover the cost of setting up 1 server, so ideally, I need to sell 20. More information regarding that will be posted later.
Doki is nearly 1 year old now, and we wouldn’t be here without your continued support, so as always, we are thankful to all our fans out there.
Also, happy birthday Isumi! (Sunny wanted me to say this.)
You can remux with 4.3.0 too.. Apparently (with the commandline version) using –compression TID:none parameter for each track disables the header stripping..
TID=trackid
It is what is the default which has changed.
You can also use MKVMerge GUI, but it is tedious. You select every track (from the middle pane), select the “extra options” tab, and set “Compression:” to none. (blank is not good enough).
Oh, and apparently another way to solve this:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1424169
If i live in a overseas country, are you able to send the mousemats whenever i want to buy it?
Yes I will post overseas, as long as your country isn’t somewhere obscure that Royal Mail does not post to.
Postage shouldn’t be that much of an issue since mousemats aren’t exactly heavy.
thanks a lot man really appreciate it XD
I got my stuff in what, 3 days? XD
Do agree on Seitokai.
Long live Doki!!! 😀
Will you guys be doing the special for Shukufuku No Campanella?
Doki mousemats? Will they be regular mousepads, or the more… uh… “comfortable” oppai mousepads? xD
Holo-san, you can also add in the latest beta version of CCCP which currently is Combined-Community-Codec-Pack-BETA-2010-09-07.exe. Address is http://www.cccp-project.net/beta/
Last time i asked for BD and specials for Campanella, but after see the 1 special i thinks that the others are all the same and cause the show i don’t think was censored pretty much, i don’t really care now of have them, the normal batch for me is ok (lately all the show specials become stupid more and more lol)
So are you guys going to do the Shukufuku no Campanella Isshoni Bath Time specials too?
If it involves no speech. Otherwise it depends if ZeroYuki will return to translate.
The first one didn’t have any speech, only some ugly CG boobs.
We already know you are picking up Oreimo, it’s really unnecessary to hide it at this point.
But we’re not, because Eclipse is doing it (and Mazui).
hey holo…. i usually lurk around here but just want to say thanks for all the time and effort for the subs you and the team does.
also just wondering since youre only picking up 1 fall show do u think u might do blu rays of other shows as well ( after u finish the back log???)
Why are ppl still using COOP codecs? K-Lite Codec Pack is far better and being updated all the time.
CCCP is being updated all the time too. Just check their beta page:
http://www.cccp-project.net/beta/
Many people don’t like K-Lite because they are just throwing every codec into it without testing the new versions.
True, but i have used K-Lite for a long time it never failed to deliver.
I’ve been using CCCP without fail for some time now. CCCP combined with CoreAVG lets my laptop run anything, and in 1080p which it did not previously without CCCP or CoreAVG.
CCCP is designed for anime, K-Lite is not. As far as the whole codec shit goes, if it works good for you. If it doesn’t too bad. And OniSamurai, it’s “CoreAVC.”
This is what I did using SMPlayer/Mplayer frontends:
Fix via adding “-demuxer lavf” which lets mplayer uses an external lavf demuxer rather than internal ones.

potential issues
had problem playing wmv files though probably since the parameter forces the usage of lavf for demuxing in lieu of the asf demuxer.
For updated Mplayer & SMPlayer I added the following PPA to the software sources and initiated the upgrade via Synaptic
ppa:rvm/smplayer
ppa:rvm/mplayer
Alternately I’ve tried to use this Mplayer build customized for using CoreAVC codec (although I failed in it’s installation) and was able to play Header Compression affected MKV files. (not sure if this also relies on the external demuxer or it has its own updated one though.
ppa:ripps818/coreavc
alternate (for SMPlayer)
-while playing, press CTRL + I and under the demuxer tab switch from MKV to lavf. (basically this lets you manually choose which demuxer to use on the current file)
-you need to repeat this procedure for every mkv file with header compression you will be playing for the 1st time.
-this solution isn’t affected by the wmv/wma/asf issue since each file is demuxed by it’s default demuxer (asf)
Don’t bother with CCCP or K-Lite, both are outdated, obsolete and lags behind MPC-HC’s releases. The latest MPC-HC releases is now at SVN 26xx.
http://mpc-hc.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/mpc-hc/?view=log
All you need is the latest MPC-HC SVN builds.

I have no probs w/ my old klmcodec442 so I don’t think I’d be upgrading anytime soon. It can play all the new shows here and has no probs w/ separate op-ed as well. It even plays CGi’s perfectly whereas I saw many complaining. I don’t even…
Only one show next season is it. It’s obviously You Are Delicious right? Riiiight? I thought so, glad we cleared that up.
In all seriousness though, if it isn’t Oreimo then I’d guess MM or Panty & Stocking.
Sadly, it’s not OreImo. 🙁
I was looking forward to it too.
PLEASE SAKI
!
I would like to ask: from which files will you guys be using the new encodes? This way, I’ll know if my media player will be able to play these new files~
All releases muxed by me from now on will be done by mkvmerge 4.3.0.
If your media player can’t, try one of the suggestions.
I still think you should disable it…
Hello, I don’t think that this has been asked, but I was wondering if any work was progressing on Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Yuutsu?
The Blu Ray has been out for a while now, and I believe it is on the net, so I was wondering if you guys might be releasing anything soon.
Yea, I’m on it.
