Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted here.
I’ve made a major update to the site. It now uses SSL. You should see a green lock on your browser.
(All other sites run by me will also receive this update, such as Fansubdb and Anidex.)
For those of you who don’t understand what this means, don’t worry too much. It just means that the NSA is less likely to be able to spy on your browsing habits while coming to Doki.
Anyway, my PhD is almost over, and when that happens, I’ll return to clear all the backlog.
Thanks for your continued support!
Edit: In light of https breaking certain things like RSS readers and toasters, I have switched back on http so you can access the RSS feeds etc via http. Links within the blog will redirect you to https, however. This should be a good enough compromise.
Awesome! \o/
Was a fun afternoon of testing!
Nice!
DOKI IS BACK SOON <3
Good work! All the fine kuddos to you! Holo! :3
Awesome! Also, I didn’t know it was you that ran FansubDB. Thank you so much for that awesome site!
I run a lot of sites >_>
Are you planning on World Domination by running a lot of sites and using anime as your cover? 😛
Already looking at buying a Greek island.
Great!
And now there’s that picture! It looks so familiar, but I can’t seem to remember where I’ve seen it… Where is it from?
It’s from Saikin, Imouto no Yousu ga Chotto Okashiinda ga. or ImoCho
Why not just use Let’s Encrypt and setup a cron job to automatically update the cert? I’ve been using them for a few months and it’s free, easy, and works on most browsers/phones that I’ve been able to try out.
Git clone: https://github.com/letsencrypt/letsencrypt.git
Well at least it’s an option when your cert expires at least.
I love the ignorance in this comment. Can’t tell if stupid or just trying to look like a smartass.
Humble apologies, I saw Comodo on the calomel plugin and thought InstantSSL or PositiveSSL. I forgot that you use CloudFlare for DDoS which supplies Comodo certs. I’m all in favor of SSL, so congrats for getting things working…
Good to see you again Holo. Gambate on the PhD work! ^^
It’s nitpicking time: surely you meant TLS, as every version of SSL is considered insecure.
Yes
Not that it matter much. TLS is just not known to be insecure. I am guessing it has been hacked, cracked, and backdoored as much as a cheap prostitute.
Huh, nice, that sounds cool. Also, the day you finish your PhD and have time to be active on the site again will be a good one. 🙂
Which, unfortunately, just put another nail in the old seedbox beast of mine – this morning, the old clunker could see you on Chrome… tonight, Chrome blocks you saying that its an unsupported protocol. Mind you, this is not because of what you did, but what Chrome isn’t doing. On my Windows 10 monster, you show up without a hitch – even the e-reader has no issues in the shiny browser, but ye old seedbox runs XP, and the reflective-one’s resent announcement that it had finished updating their service to these machines is now adding to its limitations.
Mind you, Firefox, that crafty old NetScape-used-to-be, doesn’t care a bit about your OS – it just runs everything, which can be both good and bad.
PhD?! wow!!
Well… Sucks for me… Satellite + SQUID cache = happy me… Sadly, SQUID can’t cache secure websites, and secure websites load at an incredibly slow rate for most satellite users… 🙁
You’re the first person to come up with actual arguments here on this thread. That being said, once HTTP2+HTTPS will be implemented correctly, it might end up being faster for most user to load the page than it would be over HTTP.
But yeah, satellite sucks man :< I feel for ya
Dr. Holo has a nice ring to it
awesome. good luck with your PhD
You’ll still be doing Pripara right? Please do Pripara, I beg you.
i dont have the lock (I know what it looks like)
The xdcc parser is broken in any browser which refuses to render insecure content in a secure context (such as Chrome).
I need to fix that.
If you use Chrome, you can make it load unsafe scripts by clicking the gray shield that appears on the far right of the address bar. Of course, you leave yourself wide open to attacks if you do that, but it’s definitely worth it for that sweet, sweet animu.
fyi on some sites (the main site for example) it looks like this https://imgur.com/IDDzZZq
I think your site might be kill. Both New Game 31 and Swap-Swap Vol 1 have no seeders.
can’t open doki from opera. it says unsupported protocol 🙁
any idea how to fix mah browser?
Don’t use Opera ( ¬‿¬)
No seriously, I tried the site with Opera and it works well. Just in case, this is the version information of my Opera browser:
Version: 36.0.2130.46 – Opera is up to date
Update stream: Stable
System: Windows 10 64-bit (WoW64)
Sorry for the double post.
Also works on Linux…
Version information
Version: 36.0.2130.46 – Opera is up to date
Update stream: Stable
System: Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS (x86_64; X-Cinnamon)
Can you please for the love of everything, make it opt-in instead of mandatory?
yes, broken in REAL Opera (12.xx), but probably works in the crappy chrome based one.
salty ( ¬‿¬)
>claims to use ssl
>really uses tls
holo plz
Tls is better than ssl just supporting ssl is a security vulnerability in itself
