She is surrounded by idiots.
It has been brought to my attention that for some of the names, the official romanizations used in the original light novels are different from what we’re using. For example, officially, Thouars would be Twoearle, Ultimegil would be Ultimaguil, and Lizardgildy would be Lizard Guildy.
For now we’re using our own romanizations, but the issue was discussed widely by our Twintails staff, and as we were unable to come to a conclusion, we’d like to ask for your opinion, dear viewers. Would you prefer that we use the official romanizations instead, even if some of them are a bit… weird? Or do you think it’s better we use our own romanizations (which most of us think make more sense) even though they’re not “official”? Any other opinions?
Thank you for your feedback, and enjoy the episode!

Stick with your own romanizations.
Thanks for the episode!
As for the names, I vote for the official romanization. Sure they may be weird, but this whole show is weird so it wouldn’t be out of place in my book. Plus, keeping things consistent with the source material would be a good thing.
It’s funny, this is the same situation that came about when Spice and Wolf subbers/scanlators found out the official name was Holo and not Horo, which is what everyone had been using up until that point.
vote for official romanization, it’s not weird enough if you know how they pronounce that word using their (Japanese) languange
I always liked Doki for sticking to the official terminologies from the light novels, so I would have to agree with Geese1. You should stick using the official romanization, even if it looks weird.
Hell no: Thouars > Twoearle
The rest are inconsequential and minor changes so don’t really play much of a difference either way.
Tho, I will till people that even in their romanizations, they aren’t consistent. Additionally, they can’t even spell English words right… http://i.imgur.com/AVDQEF5.jpg
Notice how they spelled investigation… >_>
Thouars/Twoearle: Whichever makes the “Twirl” pun on her name stand out best is what I would go with.
I looked at the name more like It’s Too Early(though I can see the twirly for it) for this shit.
My vote would be go official. The names are dumb as shit, but I guess that’s half the charm
lol.
Use your own romanisations. I don’t mean to be offensive, but honestly Japan is REALLY bad at knowing how things should be romanised based on their pronunciation. I’ve seen it happen in so many shows and it really irritates be because they’re just wrong. Please use your own.
I’d prefer to read what I have gotten used to, so I’m voting for Doki’s own version. And thanks for your hard work Doki staff, much appreciated 🙂
Thanks for the episode!
As for the names, i will go with your current ones. Whilst i can see the point people have about using officials i see it this way, first of all im used to your names now but that is a minor thing anyway, aside from that, like Jakeman said, Thouars > Twoearle, at the end of the day Twoearle sounds ridiculous and it just doesn’t match how they speak the name (no sub, audio) so i would rather keep your own versions.
Thank you for the release!
vote for official romanization .
F*ck the official names…
My first comment here, ever!
Firstly thanks for all your hard work!
Use what ever names you feel are best.
If you still need me to pick. Then fuck the “official” names, they suck. Use the clearly better ones!
My vote goes to what you’ve been using.
Count me in the crowd who wants you to keep using your romanization.
Thanks! Your own romanization is the better fit for the audio against the official one…
Thanks. I’m voting for official romanization.
I don’t care about the original material, so my vote is for keeping consistent with the first two episodes.
Put me down for don’t care either way.
I vote official.
What makes one romanisation more sensible than the other? Is it just the pronunciation?
If the names were actually in the more standard romaji form, they would look different. For example, “Tuaaru”.
Use the official ones.
Even if they’re not the best choice technically, this is how the rest of the fandom knows their names. It can’t be helped.
Thouars -> altazure
it’s a show about genderbending and the power of twintails. does it even matter anymore if the names make sense?
the fans who have been reading the novels will prolly prefer the official names… ridiculous as they may be.
I vote for official names. The show is ridiculous so it’s only fair that the names are ridiculous too.
if every sub group used their own names and not official, it would be very confusing for all the viewers.
Only if the viewer watched the show from multiple groups, lol.
And if you watched this from a certain other group, names would be the least of your worries.
Or if the viewer wanted to discuss the program with someone who had watched a different release.
The value in standardization is googleability and reduced confusion in text-based media. The value in original romanization is increased ability to associate the phonemes with the subtitles, because the Japanese are usually terrible judges of what looks right to western eyes.
Decide which is the priority, and you’ll have your answer.
Doki’s romanisation may make more sense, at the same time it doesn’t appear to be necessary to reinvent the wheels here, so I would say go with the official names.
