Update: Thanks to those who have applied. No more applications, thanks!
It’s been 2 years since I last did a recruitment/training campaign of new timers, and now the number of active timers have fallen.
So if you are thinking of getting into fansubbing, but have no real experience, here is a good opportunity.
If you would like to learn how to time, you should satisfy the following conditions.
- A lot of patience. Timing can be very monotonous and tedious.
- Speak coherent English. If we can’t communicate with you properly, we can’t teach you.
- Ability to take initiative. If you have nothing to do, ask me for something to work on. Don’t just sit there waiting.
- Have a lot of free time. If you are only available for two days a week, this gig is not suitable for you. While I don’t expect you to be online 24/7, I would expect you to be around for a couple of hours at least 4 or 5 days a week.
- Able to idle on IRC when you are online. If you can idle 24/7, then all the better.
- Be talkative on IRC! Don’t just idle there and not say anything. We’re all friendly and love to chat.
No experience required. You will be taught everything. I am looking for people all over the world.
Please email me with a little info about yourself, (including your timezone and motivation for joining), then join #doki-recruits if you are interested. If you don’t know how to use IRC, use this, and someone will teach you to get a proper IRC client like chatzilla or mirc later.
You forgot to mention Miranda IM D: …
this recruitment reminds me of katja-sama. just saying.
Long live timers!
So far, every timer I met was cool in one way or the other!
Doko!
Oh the irony
Any pay?
To match the requirements:
Your payment is some kind of ePeen, alot of poking from the PL where the stuff is you promissed to deliver two hours ago AND alot of ranting from our dear fans when something is delayed for a few hours already.
Complimentary Pixiv links will be provided.
This might be a good time for me to remind you that at some point (I don’t know when) you clearly forgot all about some of the people applying for your QC+Editor recruitment drive from 13 months ago (http://doki.co/2013/04/15/recruiting-editors-v5/). I got a perfect score on the QC test back then, and received voice in the #doki-recruits channel, but afterwards I never heard anything more about the matter, neither from you nor from any of the other staff members. Still haven’t. I also never even received any feedback on how well I did on the Editor test (though I doubt I did all that great). And that was over a year ago.
I’m only making assumptions, but I’m guessing “rails” might be in the same position as me, since he has also had a + in front of his nick in the #doki-recruits channel for ages, just like me. Of course, since I ended up having less free time in my life somewhere along the way, and had to quit my PR position in the VN department as a result, it doesn’t matter much anymore in my case (since I don’t have time to do qc’ing anymore anyway), but still, I just thought I’d let you know. Maybe there are others who are still silently waiting lol.
PS: Those timer conditions sound tough lol! π So you’re basically asking for people that have too much time on their hands, and have nothing better to do? Even going so far as to ask them to chat on IRC just for the sake of it, and have them ask for more stuff to time when they’re done with what they have? Brutal. π
That talkative comment is just there to attract the ladies!
At some point, I’d love to get into fansubbing… But at the moment, my job just doesn’t let me. Working 12 days a week, 12 hours a day kinda takes away pretty much all personal time.
Sadness…
I’d like to live in your world where you have these 12days weeks, would be swell! Do you have 36hour days as well? Like 36/12?
“12 days a week”
What is this I don’t even…
He could be from Mars, a year is 686 days there lol
Incoming v9001
Where/who do I email to?
12 day work week. Happy now?
I do and don’t miss working on subs and translations for B-T. Sigh so many hours of work as a chef that even if i wanted i can’t.
Good Luck to the next gen of timers.
Wow, I missed this. -_-
I have a lot of free time since I’m mostly at home and would really like to learn and join Doki.
Wow really many times will be on work….As the post , Timer
