I almost never buy anime, but when an anime reaches epic levels indescribable by the human language (such as this one), you can’t help but want to support the studio.
For your information, the only boxes I’ve ever purchased thus far were the Aria series, and I’ve seen hundreds of series already. I’ve already saved enough money looking at it this way. xD

This is indeed totally awesome to hear, but try to make sure that you do tell us those references that happen throughout the series. Y’see, [WiND] (before they croaked) helped out those were less unfortunate to understand them, and it would be very appreciative if you could be able to take up that task once again because I’m sure KyoAni has thrown in alot. Wait, I guess that WOULD be a good time grabbing the R1 series and checking that out huh? =p

I don’t remember if a.f.k.’s subs for this were localized in the same way as Haruhi, but if they were I’m guessing you’ll clean it up first?

I’m not familiar with the fansubbing process, but how much work is involved with adding an additional sub stream? Would you be willing to include Bandai’s R1 subs as a second stream if someone did the work for you? I personally much preferred Bandai’s subs to afk’s and would be willing to do whatever necessary, and learn whatever necessary to allow those to be added, if you are willing to add another stream.
I’ll be getting your release regardless, and I greatly appreciate the work you’ll be putting in to allow us to have such a release. I was just wondering if this was a possibility at all, or if this kind of thing was ruled out.
Adding an additional stream in is not hard at all, and I’ll consider it.

Lucky Star’s English dub is among the worst I’ve seen to be honest. Akira and Patty were well beyond nauseating and the rest of the cast was at best, mediocre.

Oh My God. Best. News. Ever. While I usually don’t buy BDs of series due to their extravagant price, this is an instant buy for me.
I REALLY think you should use the ENA subs for the whole series, as they are far more faithful to the original script than the butchered shitty afk subs.
Would there be any possibility of you adding EnA subs to the actual episodes, too? ^^ in my opinion, a.f.k’s subs were okay and I have nothing against them, but it would be great to have EnA’s subs as well, and seeing many people wanting EnA subs over a.f.k’s, I think you should consider adding EnA’s subs. I know that it requires more work but… It still would be nice =)
Nooo, not afk subs. They translated “Kagami-sama” to fucking “Great King O Kagami”, or some shit like that.
There are this guy who subbed from episode 11 to 24, or something like that, all by himself.. Perfect subs, I just can’t remember the name.. They are much better.

I’m all for using EnA’s subs because I hate localization because I love japanese culture, and using EnA’s subs means that they don’t have to delocalize a.f.k’s script so it saves some time.
Also Lady Kagami is only used once in episode 10 and that shouldn’t be too hard to change to Kagami-sama.

O_O damn, you’re right, just checked it myself too and they were hardsubbed… I wonder why, oh well. as I said earlier, in my opinion adding EnA subs too would be great, but it seems like it would require a lot more work, and a.f.k’s subs are very good too and I liked them, and yeap as noko said, it isn’t like impossible to make changes to the script before making it a release, so I’m okay with a.f.k^^
ENA’s are harbsubbed yes, but so are afk’s, they only released in avi/xvid after all.
So that doesn’t matter, if Doki can use afk’s subs, then they should just as easily be able to use ENA’s (or only other hardsubbed) subs anyway.
Except they are hand transcribed. Jigsy only has so much time.

The one I currently have is DVD with duel audio and I watch it with the Japanese audio. I have a friend who I recommended this anime to and he only watches it with English, and so I gave it a try to see why he liked the dub so much and I honestly couldn’t watch more than 5 minutes of it, I tried but it just REALLY got on my nerves. So annoying! I understand that some people – for reasons I will never understand – will still want English dubs/duel audio whenever they are available regardless of how horrible they are. So, as those people are usually the minority I’d like to request that the English audio be added as a separate download with a patch – like it has been suggested for Clannad ~After Story~ – so that those who want it can get it without much trouble. Unless there is a majority that want it of course, then it might as well be added from the get-go.
As for EnA’s subs, I the only one of theirs that I have seen is the OVA episode, and I was happy with it. If their subs for ep 1-24 was like that too then I think I’d be happy with that.
Localization really annoys me – and others here too from what I’ve read – but if you (Doki) are confident that you can take a.f.k.’s subs and edit them without letting anything slip through (read: make them worth having) then I’ll take your word for it and eagerly await your release. 🙂
