Finally, I present you with the HQ version of Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha The Movie 1st.
Due to the source of the audio being 5.1 Ch DTS-HDMA, I have decided to extract the DTS stream and use that. Converting it into FLAC would result in an audio stream twice as large. Having listened to the extracted DTS and the converted FLAC, I can hear absolutely no difference, therefore I shall be using the DTS stream for the 720p and 1080p releases, to avoid bloating the filesize. 480p version will use an AAC stream, encoded from the 2.0 Ch LCPM stream from the Blu-Ray.
I have provided 2 ASS streams in the releases. Default is without the English. The second stream has the English subbed. I recommend you to watch it with the default (No English) stream, however, you may switch if you really can’t understand it when Raising Heart and Bardiche speak English.
Finally, a big thanks to the following:
- Kanade – For checking the translation of the script and the songs.
- Exhilem – For translating the 3 songs.
- Pahndamonium – For K-timing the songs.
- gamma – For editing and QCing the script.

Hm, after watching a little bit, I notice the lack of honorifics… Bizarre, coming from Doki. Will they be added in the 1080p release?

Shows once again how the japanese have no idea at all about what western anime fans prefer, especially in “otaku” series like Nanoha. We aren’t talking about Gundam here, but a series with fans who are used to honorifics and all that “otaku” speak.

Yeah, it’s kind of hilarious when you see fansubbers sub the Engrish in anime. But then when they don’t, you realize how impossible it is to actually understand what they’re saying.

Weird, I play with Zoomplayer and I can hardly hear the voices but the background sounds/music are fine. Then I play with VLC and it sounds perfect. Never seen a problem like it before. Mind looking into that?
Looks like Zoomplayer can’t play the 5.1 Channels properly. The problem does not lie with my release, rather, it is Zoomplayer’s problem.

OMG~ Is it me or what?
a. No honorifics in official subs on the BD (assume the same for DVD)
b. The subs look charcoal grey bordering on black. It’s camoflaged over Fate’s barrier jacket/cape and just fugly over Nanoha’s white barrier jacket.
c. Get this…the ultimate OMG~~ “I’m Nanoha Takamachi.” It’s Takamachi Nanoha!!! Damn them for trying too hard to please, ugh.
They lead the world on technology, cars, fashion, and trends…but we have to teach them on how to create decent subtitles?!?
