Here go, our first Autumn 2010 show… I planned to do this, but decided against it when I found out Eclipse were also planning on doing it. But now that Eclipse have gone to a better place (RIP guys! Will miss ya!) I decided to go with the original plan and do it.
We have a new TL (Kaionlriu) who is very enthusiastic on TLing this, so I have good hopes that we can see this through to the end like Campanella. With Suffix (who brought you Chu-Bra!! and Mayoi Neko Overrun!) checking the translations, I am convinced that the accuracy of the subs will be very high.
Did anyone notice the similarity of the BGM to Lucky Star? It was done by the same guy lol.
We will begin the transition from SD Xvid to SD h264. Some will be pleased, others won’t be. Can’t keep everyone happy.
Btw keep the banners coming, some are amazing!

SD h264? I don’t really mind it, as long as it’s SD. By the way, are your karaokes soft-subbed or hard-subbed? I’ve never really had a chance to find out, as I’ve always only gotten the XviD versions.

Mazui has never been “on-the-ball.” Their translation of this anime is pretty bad and over-edited. They also missed many nuances in the translation.
Dude, we show a sub we like, and while over-subbing and simulcasting are one of the aspects to considerate when picking up a new show, we technically don’t give a shit.
Mazui doesn’t influence our project decision! Not now, not in a thousand years.
Mazui is fast. And being fast, certain sacrifices are made. The accuracy of the translation can improve if more time was spent. But it doesn’t matter since they are a speedsub group, and given the constraints on their time, their product is very good considering the Quality : time spent ratio.
That’s also the Canadian spelling, and British/Canadian spelling ftw. I’m used to seeing those words spelled like that so it’s more jarring to see the American spellings in other subs lol. It’s a small detail but it’s a nice one.
Although I felt Mazui put out a nice episode with this one, I’ll be going Doki since I wuvs you so much~ thanks for the ep!

Just curious, did you guys change something with your encoding process? I’ve got a mac and I’ve been watching your stuff with mplayer but everything after seitokai just wouldn’t open in mplayer or vlc but this works just fine. So please stick with whatever it is you guys changed because I really do prefer your subs.

Haven’t updated since they stopped releasing updates that were compatible with 10.4. I haven’t bothered with upgrading to snow leopard since this is just my work machine.
That’s probably the reason. Older versions of mplayer and vlc don’t support “header compression”, which is now enabled by default on all mkvmerge builds 4.2.0 and up. (It’s nothing new. It has been a part of the mkv spec and mkvmerge for a while, but wasn’t on by default. mplayer and vlc were just slow in upgrading to support this feature.)
The reason OreImo works for you is because it was muxed with mkvmerge 4.0.0, so “header compression” is turned off.
I’m not 100% sure that this is the issue you are facing, but since this “header compression” problem has been creeping up over the past couple of months, this could be it.
I muxed with 4.0.0, yes, but the problem is not the header compression, it’s people’e refusal to upgrade their damn codecs.
