Hey guys, I’m back! So after sleeping off my jet lag and fixing various problems my PC picked up while I was away, it’s time for more releases.
First thing out will be Princess Lover! OVA. It’s not really a surprise release, as I wrote this in the planned projects section some time ago, but if you don’t check the projects section often, then it’s a surprise.
It’s hentai. (My SFW post pic does not reflect this.) This means it is censored. Because it is a hentai. I cannot make this any clearer… so don’t ask for uncensored versions, because there won’t be one.
I guess ZeroYuki will add a few words of wisdom when he gets on… I’ve not seen the original Princess Lover! series nor played the visual novel, so I don’t have any comments…
ZeroYuki: OVAs are produced by another animation studio which is different from the original series. The voice cast are also different from the original series as this is hentai afterall. I tled this because I tled the original series. So this is for the sake of completion.
Except that timing lines while they are moaning and groaning cos they’re doing you-know-what is really annoying.

Dident know you guys did hentai, but hey am not complaning 🙂 tho too bad they dident do a season instead of a OVA becosue this was a great show 😉

I have read all the reviews on it, I has watched hentai before, but only a few anime sub groups(that don’t sub hentai)have subbed one. Not saying is a bad thing, I hear it is funny though and most are not pleased with the change of character on the characters (^_^”). Thanx for subbing it, look forward to the second one if you sub it. Also I heard it’s only the character shown in the preview above in the 2 OVAs.
The OVA is more with the H-game, and not with the anime, the anime changed how they were in the H-game, obviously, they couldn’t keep them the same.
Hey, Holo, I was wondering if you could tell me what, “you-know-what” is. I mean, why are they moaning and groaning? Are they working really hard? Or do they not feel well? This elusive “you-know-what” confuses me.

Have to agree with @ANIKI. The character personality changes between the series and this OVA are laughable. The censorship even more so. Thanks for subbing the moaning and groaning anyways and, as always, keep up the great work. You can always rely on Doki to go where others fear to tread.
Well, considering that the H-game came before the anime, I’d say it’s the other way around, the anime changed how the characters were. And the voice cast is the same as the H-game, makes sense.

Thanks for doing this project! 🙂 I believe Princess Lover is originally a H-game then turned into anime series (one TV censored broadcast and a uncensored DVD version). Am I right? And I understand that when a h-movie/ova distributed in Japan will have censors on the “you know where are those are…”, so can only possibly do is to miraculously wait to distribute outside Japan… Which is possibly uncensored, if there will be one… Again thanks for doing this one! Greatly appreciated.
when i first heard about an ova i tath it would be a normal one folowing the anime series . but turns out to be hentai . but well im not complaining 😛

How come that the .avi version’s resolution( 848 x 480 ) is “WIDER” than the .mkv one ( 720 x 480 )…?
The mkv’s already an SD. And by making an avi… You more or less lowered the resolution some more, right…?

I truly do not want to believe… that that AVI ver. is an upscale of the SD MKV ver. I DLed yesterday…

Something to do with the DVD source being(or not?) anamorphic. MKV supports certain “tags” while AVI does not I believe, so the AVI version has been encoded to display what the MKV version should display automatically using a good video player that should supports MKV(like MPC).
The video quality should be better using H.264(which the MKV has), I would think.
Or I could be completely wrong. I’m no encoder or a professional. Someone could add or corret me if they want.

@Kamigawa: The source video is 720×480, it’s a standard resolution for DVD. The thing is, DVD video file has the aspect ratio setting carved into it, so it’ll either display in 16:9 (853×480) or 4:3 (720×540?), it’s basically molding the video into different resolutions using the same amount of pixels.
You can set the aspect ratio for mkv files, but you can’t do that with avi files, thus you have to use a predetermined resolution.
Anyway, if you’re watching the mkv file right now, it’s actually being display in 853×480 resolution.
