Recruiting TLs for Summer 2012

Hey guys. Apologies for my lack of activity recently, especially the delay in Zombie. My last exam is tomorrow, and Episode 4-5 of Zombie will be release no later than Friday.

I am working on readjusting the layout of the blog, as you can see. Any complaints/suggestions on the new layout are welcome.

Anyway, I am looking to pick up some Summer 2012 shows, and I am recruiting any translators who may be interested in this. Experience in fansubbing is not necessary, but knowledge of Japanese is.

If you are interested, please email me at misteranonimous@gmail.com.

Recruiting Timers v3

Once again, the current timers are getting busy with RL, so I must recruit again.

So if you are thinking of getting into fansubbing, but have no real experience, here is a good opportunity.

If you would like to learn how to time, you should satisfy the following conditions.

  • A lot of patience. Timing can be very monotonous and tedious.
  • Speak coherent English. If I can’t communicate with you properly, I can’t teach you.
  • Ability to take initiative. If you have nothing to do, ask me for something to work on. Don’t just sit there waiting.
  • Have a lot of free time. If you are only available for two days a week, this gig is not suitable for you. While I don’t expect you to be online 24/7, I would expect you to be around for a couple of hours at least 4 or 5 days a week.
  • Able to idle on IRC when you are online. If you can idle 24/7, then all the better.

No experience required. You will be taught everything. I am looking for people all over the world, but in the utc+7 to utc+12 timezones (Far East and Australia) in particular, as I lack timers from that side of the world.

Please email me with a little info about yourself, then join #doki-recruits if you are interested.

Edit: Thanks for your applications. Not accepting anymore for now.

Recruiting Editors v3 (Closed)

Following the successful recruitment of Translators, I am now doing the same for Editors/QCers. Though we still have active Editors/QCers in our team, I am looking to boost the numbers as quite a few have become busy lately and cannot be as active as they used to be.

QC: Your job is to check the script for spelling, grammar, punctuation and syntax. Your attention to detail should be second to none. I don’t expect perfection, but I do expect near perfection.

Edit: Your job is to take a translated script and change the awkward/literal English into smooth, natural English. The level of your English should be akin to that of a native speaker, preferrably better than my English. (English is my second language.)
Your attention to detail should also be very good.

After sending me an email, join #doki-recruits@irc.rizon.net. You will be given a test.

In your email, state your timezone and any info you feel supports your application. Previous experience in fansubbing is not a requirement, but willingness to learn and a level of dedication is.

Edit: No more applications please.

Recruitment 2012

Greetings, Doki Legion!

I come before you today to ask for your assistance.  As many of you are no doubt aware, Doki is dealing with a bit of a backlog right now.  This backlog is predominantly due to problems that have arisen with the TLs, ranging from medical problems to increasing real life workloads.  Though Doki expects these problems to clear up with time, there is also a desire to eliminate the backlog ASAP so that the Staff can concentrate on upcoming seasons as well as on the Visual Novel.  Therefore, Doki is beginning its first recruitment drive of 2012.

Currently Doki is recruiting Translators (TLs) and Translation Checkers (TLCs) to supplement the current staff.  Though there is no set number of positions available to be filled, native Japanese speakers and those with a clear proficiency in the language will be given preferential treatment in the selection process.  If you are unsure of your level of Japanese competency, Doki still encourages you to apply; all applicants will be tested on their translation abilities, so you will be notified if you can help us in some way.

To apply, please send Holo an email at misteranonimous@gmail.com and join #doki-recruits@irc.rizon.net.  In your email, state any info you feel supports your application.  Previous experience in fansubbing is not a requirement, though a willingness to learn and a level of dedication is.

Good luck to all applicants.  May the force be with you, or something.  (o^-’)b

UPDATE : Thank you to those that have already applied.  To those that have not, applications are still being accepted.

Recruiting Translators

Recruiting Image Editors

We’re recruiting a few Japanese > English translators for new shows next season.

Previous fansubbing experience is not necessary. You should have a reasonable level of English, and have good experience with Japanese. To elaborate, you should have been speaking Japanese for a number of years, and for those of you who may have specific qualifications, the average fansub translator is a JLPT3, though this qualification can’t account for cultural knowledge, etc.

If you believe you’re up to the task, you can join #doki-recruits on irc.rizon.net.

Alternatively, you can email me at nagato-is-my-waifu@hotmail.com. Make sure your email is detailed.

Recruiting Image Editors for VN

Recruiting Image Editors

We’re recruiting image editors for our Visual Novels Department.

The basic job description is that you should be able, via use of the image editing software of your choice, replace the Kanji text in an image with English text. It’s not a simple erase and replace job but would require a reasonable level of skill with your image editing software, and attention to detail.

You would not be affiailiated with the main branch of Doki in any way, and would be working exclusively with the visual novels department.

If you’re interested, and think you have the particular skills needed, you can join our recruits channel #doki-recruits@irc.rizon.net on IRC and ask for Tatsuya, or you can send an email to tatsuya@hotmail.nl . I recommend contacting via email, as Tatsuya is not often available in the -recruits room.

EDIT: For those of you who seem to think a FREE FANSUB GROUP would be paying you, think again.

EDIT 2: Recruitment for this position is now closed.

Recruiting a Translator

I am looking for a Japanese -> English translator, for next season’s TV shows.

Previous experience in fansubbing not necessary, but experience in Japanese is necessary.

If you can help out, please apply by emailing me at misteranonimous@gmail.com

Recruiting Editors v2 (Closed)

Recruiting editors. You must be available from 6pm onwards (utc/UK time) or in the afternoon -> evening (US time) on Thursdays.

Your level of English should be high (native speaker level). Your job is to turn an Engrishy/clunky/awkward script into fluent/natural English. This means altering the flow of lines so they read better and flow off of the tongue, without changing the overall meaning. Not all translators’ first languages are English and therefore many scripts require extensive editing before they can become release ready.

Send me an email at misteranonimous@gmail.com and join #doki-recruits@irc.rizon.net. In your email, state your timezone and any info you feel supports your application. Previous experience in fansubbing is not a requirement.

After sending me an email, join #doki-recruits@irc.rizon.net. Ask for the test. Do the test. Email me with the complete test.

I am looking for dedicated people, those who will stick around for at least a season. Don’t bother if you are going to lose interest in 2 weeks.

Edit: Recruitment is closed again.

To all those who sent me the completed test: I will look at them and email you feedback. Be patient.
