Bungaku Shoujo (Blu-Ray v2)

Bungaku Shoujo

Wow. An amazing movie.

v2 changelog

  • Fabulous rainbow karaoke removed, replaced with natural softsubbed karaoke. (Holo style)
  • Re-styled to match the other Bungaku Shoujo OVA.
  • Re-typesetted. (v1′s typesetting or lack thereof was shocking)
  • Re-edited. (v1 edit was iffy)
  • Re-QCed. (v1 QC was shocking)
  • Entire ED subbed/K-timed/Kara’ed
  • Encoded from BDMV. (v1 was shitty raw)

In other words, this version is exponentially better than v1.

Many many thanks to ZeroYuki for translating this masterpiece for us.

Edit: You will need hjsplit to join the files together for fileserve.

Bungaku Shoujo Memoire – 03

Bungaku Shoujo Memoire - 03

So we finish yet another series. The hold-up here was waiting for the DVDISO; everything was done 2 weeks ago lol.

This is a funny OVA. Watch it.

ZeroYuki: This third and final Memoire OVA is about Kotobuki Nanase. I personally like Nanase a lot and I guess that’s partly because she is voiced by Mizuki Nana. This OVA depicts events leading to the Hatsumode which Nanase went with Konoha as shown in the movie. Those who think the movie leaves many gaps will be glad to know that all the Memoire OVAs fill the gaps somewhat. To put it briefly, a tsundere girl is struggling to be honest with the person she likes in this OVA.

The ED Single of this OVA, Hidamari Hakusho(陽だまり白書) performed by CooRie, will be released on 26 January, 2011. As such, this means that the ED lyrics in our current version are not the actual lyrics. But as CooRie usually sings her notes clearly, I doubt there will be major differences. ED lyrics are released. Link below.

Regarding the 2009 OAV kyou no Oyatsu ~Hatsukoi~, it is a 15 minutes peek into the interactions of Konoha and Touko in the Literature Club. I believe it was released to announce the production of the movie. I intended to skip this OAV since the general response to Bungaku Shoujo from the Doki fanbase has been lukewarm at best. But as long as there is a demand for it, I will do it. I don’t know if the ISO is available so if it is, the release should be fast.

As for the Bungaku Shoujo Movie, in reply to a comment made, I regret to inform I did not make any substantial changes to the original script which was described as horrible. I think it is fine and I only fixed the blatant errors, especially the final scene at the end of the movie. That is very crucial and I am sorry if anyone had been misleaded. Ultimately, those who are critical of my original script and are tech savvy enough will know how to demux the script from monokage and mux it into our BDMV release. I have not watched Monokage’s release of the movie, however I highly doubt it is from BDMV.

Lastly, if anyone is really keen on reading the novels and knows chinese, you may visit here. There used to be english translations by Bakatsuki but was removed due to licensing.

Bungaku Shoujo Memoire – 01

Bungaku Shoujo Memoire - 01

Touko is one weird girl. But she’s cute.

Many thanks to ZeroYuki for the TL. Expect OVA 3 soon.

ZeroYuki EDIT: As usual I will do some trash talking in an attempt to make Bungaku Shoujo seem like a big deal. Well, it is actually, and you have to watch it for yourself. This first memoire OVA is about Touko’s childhood (her book eating abilities) and events leading to her finding out about Konoha. The end scene of this is actually the start scene of the Bungaku Shoujo Movie. Go watch the movie if you haven’t. But i’m not sure how you’re going to download ours since anirena sort of died. In any case, Monokage’s version is good.

As for Bungaku Shoujo Memoire III, the release date was Christmas Eve but due to the lack of decent raws, I have no idea when we will release it. Ultimately a DVDISO is most preferred, but we will still make do with pre-encoded raws. The only thing threatening this show from completion is my enlistment for army in February. I certainly hope we will release by then.

Updates

I believe North and South Korea should watch Motto ToLOVERu. It works far better than nuclear disarmanent talks and diplomacy.

Anyway, I heard that Monokage had rose from the dead. I feel kind of encouraged to stop Bungaku Shoujo, but for the sake of completion I will attempt to complete this project. I think the third OVA to be released on Christmas Eve is worth waiting for. Hopefully we will be able to bring out 01 before then.

As for next season, I can no longer translate because I have to enlist for National Service in my country. So it’s really a pity, especially since I am looking forward to subbing something after my exams. But at times like this, it can’t be helped.

I personally think Winter is one of the most barren line ups of all. Kimi ni Todoke is probably one of the few good ones out there. As gg have pointed out, I do agree that original animes are better. My reasons are mainly because they will usually be more conclusive. Anime based off manga and light novels are restricted on the content they can animate. They have to ensure the anime will not become faster than the manga/light novels and so they add in fillers which are inconclusive. Of all my years in watching such anime, it should be noted that they tend to use it as a publicity tool to promote the ongoing manga or light novels. However, if I were to rank the latter two, anime adapted from light novels are generally better than manga, but there are always exceptions. So this makes IS rather worthy to be popular. Dragon Crisis did catch my eye as well.

On a closing note, inspite of all the drama surrounding, the staffs at Doki remain dedicated to bringing you fansubbed anime on a consistent basis weekly.

EDIT: Almost forgot to include. Shuffle! is finally getting BDs next January, i.e. January 28, 2011. Shuffle! is surely a series that deserves Blu-ray attention.

Bungaku Shoujo Memoire – 02

Bungaku Shoujo Memoire - 02

Bungaku Shoujo Memoire is a 3 volume prequel OVA series to the movie. This is the second OVA.

ZeroYuki: This OVA shows how Konoha (Miyu Irino) and Miu (Aya Hirano) met when they were young. These are events prior to the movie. The third and final OVA is about Nanase Kotobuki (Nana Mizuki), and will be available on Christmas Eve in Japan. I will tl the first OVA sooner or later. It is not prioritised because 2 decent groups have worked on it.

Bungaku Shoujo Movie

Bungaku Shoujo

Bungaku Shoujo, a.k.a Literature Girl or Book Girl. I came across this series after watching one of the many OVAs under the title. They are adapted from a complete set of 8 light novels. There are a total of 13 in the series, the others are side stories so there is real plot in this show. The movie is largely based on the 5th volume and takes the end scene of the final novel hence giving it a true ending.

The series revolve around a boy, Inoue Konoha, and his interactions with different characters (girls). The entire story is pieced together starting with how he found his ambition to write, and the eventual release of his book which got widespread success. Eventually it  inevitably caused a rift between his childhood friend; Asakura Miu, as well as an encounter with Amano Touko who changed his life forever. It has typical drama elements of teenage angst, relationship issues and suicide.

Preferred Sequence of Watching:

1. Kyou no Oyatsu ~Hatsukoi~ (2009)

2. Bungaku Shoujo Memoire (2010)

3. Bungaku Shoujo Movie (2010)

Cast:

1. Inoue Konoha (Irino Miyu)

2. Amano Touko (Hanazawa Kana)

3. Asakura Miu (Hirano Aya)

4. Kotobuki Nanase (Mizuki Nana)

Bungaku Shoujo is strongly recommended for people who like drama and romance. There are no fanservice of any kind given it’s done by Production I.G. The ED is “Haruka na Hibi” by Eufonius. These are the same cast for the OVAs.
