Thanks for the new release!
While I’m not up to the current episodes (just watched number 4 on Friday), I’m really enjoying it so far, and it’s in the running for my favorite anime show of the season.

It’s because it is not a harem.
Also, based on all the polls/rankings I’ve seen Rakudai is definitely in the top 10 most popular series this season according to Japanese viewers and maybe even in the top 5. It’s quite amazing since most of the popular series this season are sequels.
There are a few shows following a somewhat similar formula this season (This, Asterisk, and Anti-magic Academy), but this one just does it way better than the others.
I think it says something about the weakness (as expected going in) of this Fall season. Unlike a lot of years…there aren’t that many strong shows this Fall.
In a normal fall season this might be on the bottom end of my top 10. But this year it probably cracks the top 5 by default.

Of course it’s convincing that it’s not a harem. I mean, that’s what the author and the animation studio were aiming for since it’s really not a harem since Ikki and Stella are literally a couple. Throughout the whole series.
