  • Didn’t they essentially just made the place dirty again? What was the point?

  • And how the heck do you clean up an island in one day, they must be magical girls

    Thanks again for these.

I like your manga scanlations, so never mind what the site poll says, I think you should do more! For some reason the scanlation scene tolerates some pretty low standards, much worse than fansubs, so it’s always especially welcome when a group actually cares about spelling, grammar and writing sentences that don’t sound robotic.

A lot of the manga translations that I’ve seen are just not very good in general. It’s not just a matter of editing. The translators also seem to be not very proficient in the language, and I can tell they don’t even understand a lot of what they are translating.

To be fair, some mistakes also all exist in pretty much all anime fansubs, but outside of a couple particular groups thsee only occur occasionally. In manga, though, they’re often everywhere. I’ve read some pages where not a single line on them was completely correct.

Why is this? I assume because manga is popularly considered easier than anime due to not requiring listening comprehension. So a lot of people who are still early on in their studies attempt it, thinking they can manage, despite missing a lot of points for understanding the language.

How can I tell? Because I also started before I had a complete understanding of the language. While I don’t believe I ever did it to the same extent, I made similar kinds of mistakes, so I can recognize the things those translators are doing.

And then there’s dimwits like me who skipped straight to anime. LOL 😀

Except I was kind of saying that the whole idea of doing manga because you don’t think you’re good enough to to anime is a fallacy. If your grammar and vocabulary isn’t good enough to be translating anime, there’s no reason it should be good enough to translate manga.
